That’s a bit of a stretch. If the antiquated practice of timehacks were to stop tomorrow you (and the rest of us) would get through the brief and mission perfectly fine.
I agree with Seven on this one. I think we are way too reliant on the fact that GPS will always be there. I am happy with a good, accurate time hack. The building I work in now has no less than 25 world clocks, with different time zones, and not one of them is +- a minute of actual time.

I also agree with the mentality argument. I mean, the main briefing auditorium at NAWDC has GPS time, or USNO Master time, or whatever they use. But calling out 1 minute prior, and starting the brief on time down to the second for major events, sets a mentality of “we hit that wicket to the second, we’ll hit our radio checkin in the chocks to the second, and we’ll damn sure try to do the same for everything on the KBC until we’re back in the chocks again.”

During the NARG last year, I was amused to see the big digital GMT clock in the SFWSP auditorium was at least 15 seconds off GPS time. :D

Ha!

Do you remember if it was fast or slow? And what would be the repercussions of one or the other?

Most importantly, which would you prefer? 15 seconds fast, or 15 seconds slow. Be careful, this is one of those new school psych test questions with only wrong answers to choose from. Your answer will be scored against all of the other answers to determine if your answer is the bad choice or the even worse choice.

I have to gunny-time Mrs. Pickle all the time. She’s bad enough that our friends have started doing it to her...
