What's your favorite micro brew

My happy place in Jax is now Beer30, saving me the drive all the way to Total Wine. I buy something new every time I go in there. Currently drinking Southern Tier's Iniquity Black Ale. Pretty tasty, though if you can get your hands on their Creme Brulee Stout, it's basically alcoholic dessert.

CM,

Next time you are in there can you check for the following for me:
Lacplesis (it's Latvian, comes in many varieties, all on the list are Latvian)
Kimmel
Bocmanis
Cesis

And anything called Kvass.. It's like a weak rye bread based beer like thing. It's good. My parents live in Oceanway, so if they have it, I can have my mom go get some and ship it to me.

I don't know if Cigar City (Tampa) has distro into Pensacola, but if so, try their stuff. Their variations are along the sames lines as Rogue, but (IMO) executed much better. Their Jai Alai IPA (available in cans) excellent beer, dangerously so.
I've seen Jai Alai, or at least I recognize the name, but I'm not a huge IPA guy. I have to really think citrus or grapefruit to drink them, and even then, its a one and I'm done type deal.
Cigar City's Humidor IPA kicks Jai Alai in the dick. It's really that good.

Down there you should be able to get Lazy Magnolia, their Southern Pecan Nut Brown is heavenly.

Rogue brewery definitely does things differently

Yeah, case in point, fucking gross. Doesn't work as a concept, doesn't work as executed. Instead of making a quality Rauchbier, the gimmick fuck it away. Then they had/have the balls to charge anywhere from 10 to 18 bucks for that swill.

On a positive note, the website offered a "3 decade" year (90's to 2012 I think, maybe 10-12 vintage) vertical of Old Crustacean Barley Wine, bottles ranging in size from 7 oz to 750ml, I think I paid $200 for the 20-ish bottle set. I break out a bottle every now and then, and it's all been really great. The Yellow Snow mini kegs are nice to have as well.

They mean well, and do a lot for their local community and the craft brewing community. Like I said, Rogue makes some good stuff, and their products are just accessible enough to get Joe Six Pack to try something new. I just wish they'd get away from the "let's put this CRAZY shit in BEER!" mentality and focus on getting their solid products distributed in a timely manner.

They don't release Humidor Series in cans do they? That's why I like Jai Alai and Maduro (and really any other good beer in a can), I can pack them easy and take them kayak fishing.

For the record I've made a bacon porter before. And it was like the umami of beer. Of course, I tasted it daily once it was done fermenting and I added the bacon. The minute it tasted spectacular, I pulled the bacon and racked it to a keg. Of course, I'm doing this stuff in much less volume...

Unfortunately, no. When I go to visit my cousins in Orlando, I pick up some Humidor series. It only comes in the big-azz wine bottles...

Actually tried it over the weekend. Wasn't disgusted, but wouldn't buy it again.

I tried to drink a Bolita 750 on the kayak, hilarity ensued.

Shock tops come in can. Kayaks are not the boat to try to drink a 6 pack by yourself in....not saying that I would do that, but maybe I know a guy.

Ahh Hoptimum is back in season. I am not a huge fan of most Sierra Nevada products but if you can find this at a local store it is a must try. It's not like any other IPA I've tried but I would put it near the category that Pliny the younger, double bastard, hopocalypse, etc fall in to. Full flavor but not as overwhelming is it's counterparts.

Being a PNW native, I've had the pleasure of growing up around some of the finest microbrews around (have two big breweries minutes from the house where I grew up, plus 40+ wineries). I'm typically an amber guy but also like browns, reds and the seasonal summer beer. Here are my picks:

Alaskan Amber
Redhook Audbile Ale
Redhook Late Harvest
Mac & Jacks African Amber
Brooklyn Brown
Anchor Steam
Pyramid Curveball
Georgetown Chopper's Red Ale
Georgetown Manny's Pale Ale

Alaskan Amber is probably my favorite with Mac & Jacks a close second. I really love Manny's Pale Ale and if you have never tried it, it is incredible. Unfortunately, the only sell it in kegs and growlers so good luck finding it out of the NW.

This thread is always worthy of revival.....
I had this new favorite brew at a friend's wedding last weekend. I've tried a few others from knee deep since then and I have not been disappointed.
