Applied for the Feb 7th aviation board Pilot and NFO with a 53/6/7/7 LOR 0-6, 0-6, GPA 3.24 old boss. Considering all the comments on here about record low selection numbers, worried about getting picked up when I see other stats. Seems like I am middle of the pack

Have your OR show you the Aviation calculator.

I'm applying to the March Intel Boards. My stats are below. I know I am lower than average on my OAR score, but still qualify for the program. Based on the other factors, am I still competitive for the program? Any suggestions on how to make myself more marketable?

Age: 24
Degree: Ph.D. in Criminal Justice and Homeland Security (Core classes complete, in the beginning phases of my dissertation)
GPA: 3.8
Degree: Masters in Criminal Justice
GPA: 3.0
Degree: Bachelors in Child Development (Not relevant... I know)
GPA: 3.25
OAR: 48
LOR: Navy O-4, USMC O-5, Employer

24 y/o working on a Ph.D? That's impressive. Good luck on your board!

I'm currently in school right now full time while enlisted. I'm three classes away from a bachelors, I'm dead set on applying for SNA and am curious as to if I would be competitive or not; and if not, what more I could do to improve my package.

RATE: AWO2 (NAC/AW)
YEARS: 5.5
AWARDS: SSD (2), Good Conduct (1), Three Star FLOC, CMD LOA.
COLLATERALS: MWR, Color Guard, UPC, Training Dept. Track Lead
QUALS: ASDO, TACOPS, Duty Driver, ACTC Lvl 300.
VOLUNTEER: Hosted Cmd Food/Clothing Drive
EVALS: P (1ST E-5 EVAL), MP, MP.
PFA: Good Med
ASTB: Have not taken yet.
INTERVIEWS: Have not scheduled yet.
EDUCATION: UMUC Information Systems Management
GPA: 3.59
OTHER FACTORS: Can pass Flight Physical, been through water survival in PCola, SERE qualified, great understanding of NATOPS and general flight operations.

Come back when you’ve taken the ASTB. Boards only care about ASTB and GPA. Everything else is irreverent.

Does Anyone know if I even have a shot at OCS in any program (preferably aviation, NFO) ? I am new to Air Warriors.

BA: 2.68 Education Science
MA: 3.75 Organizational Leadership
OAR Score: 46

NCAA D1 Soccer Player
CIF Swimming State Finalist
JR. ROTC (Group Commander)

With just having taken the OAR and not the full ASTB, you could apply to AMDO if you were interested. There are other things that will come into play, and they typically select small numbers, but depending on your background and your interests, it could be a possibility.

Isn't AMDO mostly geared toward priors?

Isn't AMDO mostly geared toward priors?

A good portion of the people selected are priors. The main reason for that however is that most applicants interested in aviation choose SNA or NFO because they want to fly, not necessarily run the maintenance effort from the ground side. Being enlisted myself, I can attest that many of us already involved in aviation maintenance choose to apply because it is a much easier transition than say applying for SWO or Intel, plus we have a background in the field already which improves our chance of selection.

However, I can tell you that as per the OCM, and the official community brief, AMDO is always looking for civilian applicants due to low retention rates at LCDR. Many prior enlisted will serve 10 years commissioned, and if able, retire. So to curb that, the OCM and community are charged with selecting priors that either are willing to commit longer than 10 years (as outlined in appraisals and personal statement), and selecting civilians, who will HAVE to serve 20 years to retire, thus ensuring there will be people to fill in the O4-O6 ranks in the community.

Let me know if you have any other questions and I'd be happy to help if I can.
