Boeing will gladly crank out some Super Hornets to fill the gap....they's been a hoping and a prayin' that JSF will slip, slide or tank so they can put a Super Hornet in every garage (like a chicken in every pot)

That seems like it would make alot of sense, especially for VMFA(AW) squadrons, to replace their D's with F's.

Also, I've read some speculation that Boeing is hoping USAF attaches some F-15E orders to South Korea's F-15K orders, as a result of F-22 numbers being cut back.

That rumor has been circuling in AF circles as long as the rumor that the Tomcat would be extended has been going around. With the F-22 being given a/g options they are cutting the 117 program and sending the a.c to Davis M and that is what they are trying to use as the option to get more F-22's at last check no more F15E are coming to the service.

Would be nice, but money in the AF only goes for new toys.

Zilch

This...is...Caketown!
F's for the Marine Corps? If the -35 does, in fact, take a dump for a while, is that even a consideration? It seems like entering a whole new AC type into the service would throw a wrench into things.

Mind you, I'd love to see this happen, as an NFO applicant...

Great "cadre" ceremony. TBM Avenger (with WW2 VMTB-134 pilot), A4 and F4 (with last of that platform's commanders) and our Hornet, all on line behind the formation. Each aircraft in pristine 134 squadron colors. The pass and review had almost 20 former commanding officers joining the current CO and CG. First class retirement to a first class squadron.

What a complete waste for the Marine Corps! Stupid decision.

Great to hear the cadre went well. Are there plans to bring back 134 once the Lightning hits the Corps in large numbers or is it a pipedream to see the unit stood back up?

Hate to see it. Gonna miss seeing and hearing the Smokes.

The Corps is trying to start that right now at VMFAT-101. Should see the first three "test case" IP's in September. The interesting part of the program is the requirement to join the reserve TACC and fly at 101 on the side.

Hey I just wanted to thank all of you over at -134 for giving myself and a fellow Marine a tour of the facility and some sim time... I learned a lot. Sad to see the unit being stood down, hopefully you'll be back in years to come.

Do you have any pics to go with that post?

I was told that pictures couldn't be taken on the flight line, and I didn't really think to take pictures of the ready room, maintenance bay etc. The camera didn't come on this trip, unfortunately. It was certainly a treat though.
