You're an airline pilot so I already know you do the absolute minimum in the academic department but you could still read a fucking book from time to time to maintain the semblance of knowledge.
I read plenty of books. Probably more than most people. It's magazines I rarely read. You know, magazines like The National Review.

But I guess you're so academically inclined you don't know the difference between a book and a magazine.

Except they have a government sponsored monopoly so I can't take my money to a reasonable alternative business. Economics 101 bro.
Airlines are regulated by the government the same as every other business but they are far from a monopoly. That all ended with deregulation in 1978. But of course you're into fake news so why wouldn't you once again make up your own version of the truth about this too.

The only time you are forced to fly an airline is when your employer sends you somewhere. Than it is their money not yours. So your "economics 101 bro" is really your employer's economics, not yours.

Don't want to fly and airline for personal travel? Take a bus, train or automobile. All are alternatives. I know 3 or 4 people who are scared to death of flying and refuse to get on a plane. They travel all over just fine. It just takes them a little more time and planning.

I must have led you on somehow. You and I are not bros. We will never be bros.

There are plenty of options for you to get from point A to point B. It's going to take you longer but that's the price you are going to have to pay.

You are a Navy FRS IP correct? Not exactly a leader of academia.

You know that saying you can never have too much of a good thing? Well you aren't a good thing and we've had too much. You sit here and pontificate about everything. You are a know it all, jackass little prick who needs to sit back and shut the fuck up. You must be a real peach of a rag IP.

Standing by for your standard, predictable response.

Sooooo anyone else think this thread, just like the story, has run its course?

I'd say the horse is dead.
There's a few live maggots left in any dead horse! Let the beatings continue!

Agreed that this has run its course. On to the next thread that will devolve in to some version of red vs blue.

Speaking of ivory towers, "you all" is the scholarly, academic way of writing "y'all" when one is avoiding the use of contractions in formal writing... or "youse guyyys" when one's ivory tower is situated north of the Mason Dixon Line.

Wait, what airline runs as a monopoly in the US?

I know we allow monopolies, like MLB, NFL, NBA, NHL; cable companies in local markets, etc., to exist, but what airline in the U.S. does this? Are there some regulations that are stupid? Absolutely... take a look at Southwest's history with Dallas Love Field; but what regulation allows any of our airlines to operate as a monopoly?

They don't even get subsidies except in very limited situations...unlike Etihad and Qatar and Emirates that are state sponsored airlines

Every day United flies about 600,000 people, each one wrapped up in their own self contained bubble unaware that they have joined a very large eco system. Most oversold flights have a list of volunteers that exceeds the amount of seats needed. This case was a perfect storm of everything going wrong...shit happens.

OK, how's about we take a step back here and consider a radical concept . . . winged aviators acting like winged aviators instead of trolling the shit out of each other. Knock it the fuck off with the personal attacks, people. All of you. You're commissioned officers on a public forum, for God's sake.
