I've never heard of that one. What's "Alabama?"
I don't remember the full EP step but it was something like "turn away from populated areas." Or sometimes briefed as "turn towards an uneducated area." Either way, someplace towards Alabama fit the bill.

Something I also recommend is to download the T-6B NATOPS and Primary FTIs from the CNATRA website (make sure they are the most up to date versions). You'll be given hard copies of everything, but having them on your computer allows you to Control-F and find specific pages that you need.

For example, every day the flight schedule with have a NATOPS Question of the Day. It saves a lot of time when you can Control-F the buzzword and be immediately taken to the answer.

The next thing you'll tell me is when you have to take your annual open-book NATOPS test, you'll use Control-F to find the answers more quickly. Who would do that!!!!? (allegedly)

Looking back, I'd say EPs, limits and checklists would be the most beneficial to get a head start on. Everything else will come with time while going through the syllabus. If you're going to Whiting, learning the "Hollywood" checklist ASAP would be beneficial. Your very first sim after ground school will be on that checklist. Plus, nothing ticks an IP off more than a stud taking 30 mins to do the Before Engine Start checklist while they're sweating their ass off in the back :confused:

Agreed. For Corpus, Hollywood Checklist = Expanded Checklist. Also, learning the NATOPS Brief early for Corpus is essential. If you can get copies of the updated Cubic Course Rules binder as well then you'll be able to incorporate radio calls into your studying.

Finding people farther along in the syllabus who can give advice is also huge.

Just print the answer key making sure you change the filled in answers from red to black.

You with the jokes....but that actually happened on my last emailed Open Book Test. Apparently somebody forgot to "sanitize" the file they sent me, or just took pity on the "senior pilot." Either way, 4.0 to success!
