Does that go for me, too, or just Godspeed?
Haha...probably just Godspeed, freaking Riddle clown. :clown_125 :icon_carn (Just funnin' w/ya Speed :icon_smil ) As far a metro goes, anyone who's at an SEC school can't be all bad, now can they? (well, unless they're at Bammer)

I'm sorry for the threadjack...I can't really contribute much as to Supply School, but I grew up in ATL (in fact, my HS was mentioned in that article :disguise_ ) and know Athens well enough. Any questions, just holler.

The future of the Supply Corps
I don't know too much about the school, but from what I've come to understand from the two Supply Officers I've met since I started applying, it's basically learning to fill out forms and put requisitions in, etc etc...essentially the "official side" of everything. The town is great, though...Athens is absolutely incredible, and it's beautiful there.

And Tripp, thanks for the respect for UK guys. As far as your sister, if she and I end up dating, I'll treat her nice. :D

In retrospect, I think a lot depends on who the Education Counselor is. If it's who I hear it is now, he's the man, instructor of the battallion when I was there. The guy my class had was a straight up pain in the ass. As for the southern belles, everywhere. They seem to operate in packs of 10+. Plenty of good times to be had there. However, any 7th fleet liberty port will blow that town straight out of the water.

I would also like to know what exactly does a supply officer do and what it takes to become one especially if you are looking into joining the Navy?

COMPETITIVE PROFILE FOR SUPPLY OFFICER PROGRAMS:

The following Officer Candidate School selection criteria/considerations apply to the Supply Corps Community.

Supply Corps officer candidates are selected/not selected after careful review of their entire package. Each candidate is considered on his/her own merits and in the context of the current pool of applicants. We are looking for individuals who have demonstrated consistent superior performance in academic, employment (including prior military service) and extracurricular activities.

A minimum GPA of 2.20 is required. A GPA of 3.0 is considered competitive. An OAR score of 40 or higher is considered competitive.

A baccalaureate degree in Math, Economics, Accounting, Business Administration, Finance or Computer Science/Information Systems is preferred. Applicants who have proven exceptional merit in other fields of study will be considered on a case-by-case basis.

Written recommendations from employers, professors, coaches, etc. will enhance the application package by allowing us to evaluate the candidate’s leadership potential. When possible, interviews with Supply Corps Officers may also enhance opportunity for selection.

Supply Corps Officers are a highly trained, specialized team of professionals performing executive-level duties in financial management, inventory control, contracting, computer systems, material logistics, retailing, and other related areas. As a result, good character is essential. Candidates who have had financial/legal difficulties, mental health issues, significant drug use or employment problems are not considered good candidates. Youthful offenses (i.e. one-time drug experimentation or public intoxication) are generally not an issue as long as the candidate has demonstrated maturity since the incidents.

Officers will deploy at sea for extended periods of time (i.e. 6 months) and be assigned globally. Applicants who have health constraints such as seasickness, or family obligations, which prevent worldwide assignability, may not be considered suitable candidates.

Disqualifiers:
• GPA below 2.2
• OAR below 35
• Numerous alcohol and/or drug related offenses
• Recent or unresolved personal financial problems

Athens has tons of attractive women although the whole sorority/fraternity scene is often an impediment if you're not into that kind of thing.

I think there is something like 90 bars downtown but that's because most places have an upstairs and downstairs bar.

North Campus is the best part of the school and just a stone's throw from downtown.

I wish UGA had NROTC. :(

I will second everything you said on that Glove... (at least up to the 7th fleet, I haven't been there yet. I called up the new educational counselor about a month ago, due to the fact that the old one wasn't doing his job, and he is as helpful and friendly as ever.

Back to the "Bro" that my class had as a EC, make sure all of you check your records with bupers. All our SMART transcripts are in place, but Bupers barely knows we exist. Looks like no page 13 entries got made for a while. It's kind of discouraging to check your CD from bupers and see your social, your pg 2, and your current UIC and NOTHING else!

Anyways, I thought supply officers aren't able to stand watch on the boat due to the fact that they are restricted line. Perhaps I am mistaken.
This is hogwash. Don't be that Supply officer who doesn't want to stand watch. Pull your share of the load. And don't use that sh!t that you have to be available for HCO to get you out of the watch rotation. Non watchstanding supply officers piss me off.
