Supply Boards and scores

Bottom line Smallz: Your ASTB scores are less than impressive. You need to take it again. Study hard and get it over a 50.

I second what MarketPro said...I got Pro-Rec'd for Supply BDCP and non-selected for Intel BDCP with a 52 OAR and 3.7 GPA in Business Management. Retake that sucker. You'll do better now that you know what to expect, definitely.

Market Pro/Metro,

MY recruiter says I have a good chance of getting picked up for Supply, because I have areas in my package are extremely well. He also said I have a good GPA if I were to apply for Supply. Now he said if I wanted INTEL, I would have to take the test over again. In the long run I think Supply would do me the most good, because it would allow me perfect my intrapersonal skills. My undergrad major is Molecular Biology/Pre-Med; one day I plan on going to medical/grad school. Now that I think about it, I think INTEL is not for me.

The GPA is great, no doubt about that, and it's true that Supply is "less selective" than the other communities (but still more selective than a lot of stuff!). If your package is good, then so much the better, and if they think you're okay with that OAR, then lock, load, and fire...my only concern would be the OAR, everything else sounds really comparable to my situation.

For reference, I saw that acceptance stats for the last boards, when I got Pro-Rec'd for Supply and non-selected for Intel...only 2 people out of something like 50 applicants this time around got selected. Pretty slim pickin's there.

I will second what Metro said as well: I am concerned about your OAR. GPA is attractive. But how do you have such a high GPA and then score a 40 on your OAR? That would be my question as a selection board member. There is somewhat of a disconnect for me. GPA can be emphasized too much -- likewise the OAR can be overemphasized. But with a little studying and practice, a reasonably intelligent person should be able to score closer to a 50 or more on the OAR.

I'm not saying you are not reasonably intelligent -- I am telling you that as a reasonably intelligent person you should study the gouge on this site and take some timed practice tests from ARCO and retake the ASTB. You'll imporve your scores if you are diligent and make you package more solid and display an applicant the is better rounded.

I swear, every single person that asks my advice to getting accepted and has a low astb score, REFUSES to retake the ASTB. The astb it one of the most critical aspects of a package, and 2-3 nights of studying some gouge for an hour or two can make the difference between a 40 and a 60 (it did for me, brought my 45 up to a 60). You can't bring your gpa up over 3 hours of work, nor can you bring anything else besides the ASTB up in that amount of time. For such a small investment (a few hours of your time) you can DRASTICALLY improve your chances of selection. Why send a weak astb score off to the boards, and potentially delay selection by MONTHS (literally, a month at least to get reviewed and denied by the boards, redo your package and ASTB, resubmit, wait another month), all the meanwhile, you could just study and retake it in a matter of a week, and make sure that your package is the "best it can be." <pardon the army saying. This isn't directed towards you smallz, or anyone in particular, its just a little common sense that will hopefully help everyone.

Glove,

I didn't see the Supply numbers, sorry, but I can logically assume the ratio of accepted to applied was better than for Intel! My recruiter had just told me I was non-selected for Intel, and was trying to make me feel better about it, and showed me that only two people got Intel.

Supply has the most slots per FY than all BDCP designators traditionally (something to the tune of 134 for FY07 if I recall what my recruiter told me). SNA has about 80 for FY07, Intel and Crypto have even less.

Godspeed:

Preach it. While I was in school I worked 50-60 hours per week, took 33 credits per semester and finished in five semesters. My GPA suffered to the tune of a 3.2. Not bad, but not good enough to make me strong for Intel. My only option was to study hard for the ASTB. I ended up getting an OAR of 65. This made me pretty competitive and with the explanation of the lower GPA, my package will be strong. Why send in a package with 5 strong parts and one very weak part? Common sense.

Keep spreading the truth.

What are the min. score to get Supply. I just took my second ASTB today. Overall, I felt pretty good about it. Here are scores: AQR 2, OAR 47. My recruiter says I need to get a 3 on my AQR. Yet, I remember the first time I took the test (OAR 40), he said I only could go for Supply. So I am confused on what actually the scores for Supply are? Can you guys help me out with this; thanks in advance. Thanks for the support!

I know a guy with stats just about identical to yours who got picked up for supply officer.

Same undergrad GPA, same OAR, also prior enlisted, also **earned** some military awards.

I forgot to add that he is older just like you too. I think he's about to turn 30 and he just got selected. I think you've got a good shot man.

I'd consider retaking the ASTB. Other than that, you seem solid.
