With all the talks of pilot shortages in the military, has anyone heard scuttlebutt that the Navy/USMC is looking into extending the age cutoff for SNA/NFO applicants? Not saying I have heard or read anything of the sort, just curious since the SWO age got extended.

The shortage is not from pilot accession, it is from pilot retention.

Seeing as this is the place for stupid questions why are aviators leaving? I mean I guess I can understand how being on a boat for 9 months can seem like a raw deal, especially if you started a family. But what are the other factors? Money? Something in the daily routine? Some super military secret that nobody reveals to you until you're in that makes life suck?

Seeing as this is the place for stupid questions why are aviators leaving? I mean I guess I can understand how being on a boat for 9 months can seem like a raw deal, especially if you started a family. But is it bad enough to give up flying the greatest machines known to man?

There are countless articles out there explaining this. Also, there's threads around here (AWs) which too explain and even debate the pilot retention situation.

UPDATE: I literally googled "Navy Pilots retention" and found my answer...

Hey all, ive gone through over a dozen pages of this forum in the hopes that someone has posted a solid packing list for ocs. My recruiter hasn't given me any information and I keep finding different information online from different sources. I leave to OCS may 18th and report on may 20th. Just want to make sure I have what I need.

Thank you all!!! Sorry I know its probably a repeat question.

Google it man. You can find the Navy packing suggestions along with personal stories of what people wish they brought or not.

Did you check the official OCS website? That would be a good start...

I'm currently trying to track down all my medical records for my OCS packet; however, I've run into some troubles in the process. A few of the doctors offices that I tried contacting aid that they switched systems sine I was a patient and that my medical records were lost. Can this screw me over in the future? What happens if I can't locate all my medical records?

The doctors offices are giving you the run around. They are required by law to keep your records on file for a number of years (six, I believe). They'll have the data from the old system somewhere; let them know how important it is to you that they find it.
