I've read several post on the forum that recommend all prospective officers heading to OCS read and study Appendix B. Are there any particular materials on here that we should spend time studying?

Hopefully I'm in the right thread, and yes I've researched this site pretty thoroughly, but I had a stupid question anyway lol. I'm preparing to fill out the OCS application and there is section that ask to "List all incidents EXCEPT minor offenses that impose a fine of $300.00 or less, exclusive of court charges". My dilemma with is before joining the Navy I disclosed that I got in trouble for shoplifting once and paid a court fee. Though I didn't get any conviction or serious trouble I paid a court fee and went to a "morality" class (because it was my first and only time committing a minor crime). Anyways I don't mind disclosing the information again but by instruction of 300.00 or less technically I don't have to. So my question is do I leave it blank or fill it out anyways? any help is appreciated

They'll make you a new dental record for the Navy, take some x-rays. They even fixed a pre-cavity for me. With your blood samples, they'll figure out which immunizations you've had and which have expired, then they'll line everyone up in like week 5 or 6 and tell you which shots to get. Unless you need a waiver for something, don't sweat it.

A guy on OHARP in my area says he recycled the first time he went through the RLP evolution. Is it actually tough, or are do some people just struggle with the idea of it?

It's pretty rough. It's all about attention to detail, knowing Appendix B, and being confident and loud. Preparing for the event is worse than the actual event in my opinion. Actual event lasts 10 minutes, but it's a long 10 minutes. (I scored very well my first time, so I didn't roll for the evolution.)

There's a checklist somewhere in these threads. I'd look at that. There are a couple helpful things for females I can help out with too. Some things I'm happy I brought were extra, long shoe strings (which you'll need to tie bags for events), money (OCS is expensive. Spent about 4000 my whole time here so be prepared to spend), 5-7 pairs of fox river boot socks!!! The boot socks issued suck. A couple Rite in the Rain 3x5 notepads (color doesn't matter) to keep and write gouge, one pair of really good tennis shoes (I'd recommend a brand like Brooks).

For those of us who are going to be in OCS while the transition to type III's happens, should we bring both sets of our uniforms (blueberries & Type III's)?? I don't see a reason to not bring my type III's just to be forced to buy a new set (I have like seven already).

You never know what they might want. I'd bring both. But I think a prior could be more helpful here. I can only help from an OCS perspective.
