I don't think so. And I've read some recent comments on here about people still struggling with it. I just remember when I went through that the chip trail was adding a minute or so to people's times. So folks who might have been able to pass a normal PFA were at more risk.

I remember being forewarned about the chip trail when I went through along with the O Course (that got dropped as a requirement then was wiped out in one of the hurricanes) so I ran it quite a few times when I was in the Q on base just a short walk from it. I did it enough I was pretty familiar with the course and comfortable with my time, the folks that seemed to have issues generally hadn't practiced on it and were surprised at the time penalty that resulted.

The run 'course' along the seawall for the PRT I did during Primary was another story, I was stoked I beat my best time by a minute until I found out it was the same story with all my classmates. I wonder if they ever 'fixed' that distance....

When I did the in-test, the standard was also for a 17-19 year old, so as was said, if you were fine in your age group, but close on the 17-19 standards, it started to get real.

Add in some fabulous 34 degree weather, and my time went way up.

Pitch and roll are on the cyclic, rudder trim is on the PCL, and there was definitely automatic heading trim somewhere in there (I don't remember what it was called, but I don't think I ever touched the pedals in flight except for rapid power changes or slips). Shifting to the TH-57 was a pretty steep reintroduction to pedal use, and I still don't trust the MH-60R :)

Gracias. That's why I was wondering if the trim circle diagram was as relevant, since it was very similar to how you actually moved the rudder and pitch trim in the T-34.

Trust the R's trim. Once you figure out how to engage it as well as fix it, it's actually pretty good...until it goes out to lunch and needs an Accel Null.

Like most things in life, it's amazing what a little practice and prep will do.

Not as of 2010 at least. It was still closer to 1.25 from what I can remember.

Hmm so I am understanding the consensus to just kinda skim things for API. Dont do any hard core studying while I am on oharp right now. Was there one class that everyone thought was more difficult than others?

You can study all you want, but just know all the API instructors are gonna tell you *exactly what to know before each test.

I didn't study until the day before class started. 3 months of OHARP and 4 months in A Pool.
But do stay in shape. It's a joke that people fail the PRT in Pensacola. Who can't run 1.5 miles in less than 12.5 minutes?! That being said people roll literally every week for it. You can't blame the chip trail, only yourself.
