Service Selection

Hi everyone,

I know there's not a definite answer to this question, but I am really just looking for those with more experience than I have to weigh in.

I'm a senior out of UPenn's unit attending Drexel, Mechanical Engineering 3.7 GPA, 8/8/8 65 ASTB score, so I know I have met the qualifications. I'm starting to sweat it out about the possibility of nuke selection. Apparently (heard through the grape vine), NSTC (or NR, not entirely sure) has set a 4-Mid minimum quota to go nuke out of my unit. There are 3 guaranteed nukes out of my class right now (already passed interviews) and 3 aviation candidates, of which I am the most qualified. I am also the only tier 1 major out of those 3 SNA hopefuls.

Would this make me the most or least likely to get pulled for a nuke interview? I understand that may be a tough question to answer without further knowledge of my class, so feel free to ask me for any additional information. I can tell you guys/gals up front that there is one fellow Mid who is shooting for medical with stellar grades, PT, etc - he is sweating it out about nuke as well, given the extremely low med selection rates. Any input would be greatly appreciated - thank you!

As with previous mids your best bet would be to ask your Aviation LT/advisor who could break down the criteria and see where you stack.

The “I’m a Mid: here is my stats, will i get selected?” Question get asked on here all the time. Same with “how to avoid being a Nuke” Question.

Thanks for the reply. I have spoken to my Class advisor who is an aviator. I asked for input via the experience of others - not “will I get selected?” or how to avoid being nuke drafted.
