Awesome aerospec!

I'll accept PM's from anyone wanting to coordinate as aerospec suggests.

It might be nice to have dinner or something with fellow candidates before we get into OCS.

So September 9 OCS candidates, shoot me a PM with your name, email, location, future navy job, etc, if you're interested and maybe we can get together some night down in Pensacola before we start. I'm sure it'd be nice to recognize some faces our first few days.

I'm from St. Louis, by the way...

I think it would be nice to meet up before we check into OCS. STL I'll PM you my info. There is also a thread on usnavyocs.com for our class. Another candidate is getting some class info together. Maybe you guys can compare lists. See you guys real soon!

Combating TIP training AGAIN?!
Congrats Amanda...
Just out of curiosity what platform did you work on? (I'm assuming 18's)

Thanks FMRAM,

I actually started out in P3s. I did a little O level work, but mostly I level in the comm/nav shop. I am now working I level on 14s (what's left) and 18s. Spent a couple years in a circuit card repair shop and now I'm working in QA.

Woo-hoo! Just got word my OCS date is 09 SEPT 2006! I'm an SNFO, so if there are any others here for this date, chalk another up for the aviators! J/k :) Isn't there an e-mail or something going around with everyone's info on it? Any chance I could get added to it, or is it too late?

BTW, what is the class number for this class? I haven't received my orders in hand yet.. (I assume it is XX-06)

I haven't gotten the official orders yet, either. I just got the letter of acceptance.

I was taking PM's with people's info. So far I've only got about 4, so I was holding off a little longer before sending out a group email.

Heck yeah, another aviation officer! Actually I think we are the minority in this class so far. Congrats!! Looking forward to meeting you. STLEngineer is taking PMs for everyones info and there's also a thread to our class over at www.usnavyocs.com. I hope we can all get together the night before, even if it's only for dinner or something.

Good, I thought I was the only one. I haven't received my official orders yet either.

CNRC needs to get on the ball with those "official orders!" I imagine they'll have them ready about 2 days before we all leave for Pensacola. Anyone taking them up on their offer for a one way flight? Also, who do we need to talk to about setting up direct deposit info and miscellaneous for pay, or is that done while at OCS?

My recruiter gave me some direct deposit forms for the bank to fill out.

I did that and returned them to him. I guess he's going to give me a packet of stuff to take to OCS, so I don't have to piece it together myself.

I got my orders on the 14th of July. But I'm active duty, so I'm sure that's why I received mine so early. If you haven't received your orders yet then you should bug your recruiter about it. As for our class number, it should be XX-07 since we grad in FY07. It doesn't say on the orders what the class number is. Here is some of what the orders say:

to include 89 days at ocs
class: 61801 (whatever that means)
conv: 09SEP06
grad: 01DEC06

Has anyone requested a sponsor? The sponsor can probably tell you the class number.

The direct deposit stuff can be done at OCS. Just have your bank routing number and account number. I encourage everyone to get with Navy Federal Credit Union. The are every where. Comes in handy overseas.

Looking foward to meeting up with everyone for dinner or whatnot the day before we report. 26 days of freedom left!

Your sponsor should be your class officer. A few people in my class thought "sponsor" meant "summer camp counselor" or something. They managed to irritate him before they even showed up for OCS (lack of basic military courtesy, whining, etc). I'm sure you don't need to be told to be professional with your sponsor, but I figured I would throw it out there for some of the guys coming right out of college.

I encourage everyone to get with Navy Federal Credit Union. The are every where. Comes in handy overseas.

Except Whiting Field! The nearest Navy Federal branch is 30-40 minutes from Whiting. I have an account with both USAA and Navy Federal, and I would have to recommend USAA. They don't have branches or ATMs anywhere, but they manage better customer service (and they refund your ATM charges). Also, USAA offers great insurance and a sweet commissioning loan (mine was $20,000 at 3%). Just my $.02, take it for what it is, and good luck at OCS.
