Anybody been playing Battlefield 1943? That game is sweet and only $15.00 on live.

Yeah man, and I think it's great. Easy to hop into a game and quit whenever, and a lot of fun. I especially like the planes-only mode.

It also has the most realistic flight simulation engine I've ever seen, which makes the aerial mode fun.

Fixed. Another vote for BF1943. It's pretty fun on PS3.

Bringing an older thread back to life...

So, PSW's alma mater doesn't have many televised football games - so I do what I can to get the one or two that are televised into our house for her. The last couple of years, it involved buying a week's worth of ESPN Game Plan. Not so much this year. The only game that we could get was televised on ESPN3.com. A website. How to get it on the big screen?

If you guys haven't heard of PlayOn, it's worth looking into. Two week trial (which will cover this year's game), and it's a bit steep thereafter ($39.99/first year, $19.99/year thereafter OR $79.99 lifetime). However, it doesn't just play ESPN3.com. I'm watching Speed & Angels on Hulu right now. You install it on a desktop/laptop computer (I have it installed on our quad core/gigabit desktop that's also our media server) and then access it via your Xbox 360/Wii/PS3/iPhone... It's pretty sweet.

I guess the question is what all does this PlayOn thing encompass. I subscribe to mlb.com just to get Phillies games, and really, it's a steal. What all does this service feature?

(and I know I can google it, but I figure you might have some user insights. is there a real total value, i.e. multiple sports channels for a good deal. and i'm drunk).

You do know ESPN3 is part of Xbox Live Gold now?
I was not aware of this... I'm an XBox Live Gold member, so I'll have to compare the video quality (I have until Saturday)...

Here's what you get with the straight PlayOn:
Pandora, Hulu, Netflix, Comedy Central, MLB.tv, NHL.com, CBS.com, CNN.com, ESPN.com, ESPN3.com, TV.com, Spike TV, The Ultimate Fighter, PBS, MTV, Vevo, Amazon Video On Demand, Fox News, YouTube.

There are plug-ins for:
Academic Earth, Adultswim, Cartoon Network, Channel 9, Crackle, Discovery Channel, Food Network, Game Trailers.com, HGTV, NBC, NFL, Nickelodeon, Podcasts, Southpark Studios, SyFy, Danish & Spanish International Channels.

Truth be told, it's mainly nice for the ESPN3.com and Hulu. I don't know that I'd use it otherwise... I never really looked into Hulu that much, but damn - it's got a lot of content. I haven't checked out MLB yet...

Again, it's mainly for streaming internet video to your devices...

EDIT - I just checked out MLB. You have to have a login, so if you already subscribe to watch on your computer, it's just a way to get it to the TV.

More of a comment than help but I'm able to use my laptop's HDMI out to connect to my 50". I stream ESPN3 via wireless to my laptop. I was surprised, it looks pretty good on my TV.

The Catamounts (a relative of the Puma) game looked pretty good on the PhrogPad's TV with the ESPN3 streamed via some nerdery that Phrogpilot did that is beyond my comprehension. (I did however, comprehend how the keg works, and helped myself to some homebrew)
