A guy in my OCS class tried to do the switch. Short, chubby guy that I could beat when we did timed runs. I am not a runner. If I'm beating you, you have no business trying out for BUDs. But, he was so hell bent on being a SEAL that he DOR'd right after API based on some, either shitty or incomplete, gouge.

Last I heard, he was a SWO.

Bottom line, OP, it ain't gonna happen. Stay in the cockpit.

It might work. I know (okay, know of) this guy that retired from the NBA and then went MLB...but he really only made it to AAA...and sucked at it. So, then he went back to NBA. But that was like 20 years ago.

Still - it's been done, so could work for you.

I looked quickly, and hopefully I'm not violating something by having this be my first post. I was an OCS/SWO/Nuke, so I did my first tour on a carrier, then I did my second with a Special Boat Unit. I loved that job (guess which tour I'm talking about?), and thought about applying for BUD/S. The comments about seniority are very legitimate. Even for me, I'd graduate (if I made it) as a pretty senior LT. I'd show up the teams without enough experience to lead a platoon, but probably senior to the platoon OIC. Even as a staff weenie, I'd have had no relative experience. So yeah, I think you'd be way, waay too senior. There were some spots for like an "air liaison officer" at the NSW Units though. It was also much more of a staff job, but if I recall you did all the cool gear and our guy got to pose for a few pictures in his "cool guy" stuff.

Some time in i think 2009 the adjoining building burned down, along with a good chunk of the Pelican. They just put up a wall and it was about 2/3 the original size the last time I went there (late 2009 or early 2010)
