So how does that work? Say you have a day or two of leave on the books, take a week of leave (which is perfectly legal), then come back and quit. Does the Navy just eat the debt or do you have to pay it back?

Im sure the Navy will get it back from you during your time on working parties while you are awaiting your paperwork to finalize. Nothing is just a debt with the Navy, they always get it back.

Still, that would mean it would take two months to be processed. Possible, but certainly not effecient when you're paying someone's salary.

His enlistment was extended by at least one year in order to take a slot to OCS

Here was the breakdown for 08-14 last year

2 weeks indoc
Leave period 1 (1 week)
Leave period 2 (1 week)
1 week indoc (RLP)
3-4 week OC phase
3-4 week CO phase

That's great for priors, but I was referring to "new guys." That's why I asked.

@RiseR 25 - Do you recall how/when the folks in 08-14 planned their travel for the leave period? I am in 08-15 and still trying to find info about when I should book a flight home and how I will know which leave period we will be granted. I imagine it would be nice to be able to book flights prior to arrival / Indoc

When is your check in Sunday date, is it Dec 14?

Wow that's rather odd. 14 December falls on a Sunday so it looks like you might be in for that week doing the medical Monday-Friday/in processing during that week then go to leave periods. That really doesn't make any sense. They might have changed it from last year.
