Good advice, there is a reason why that book is given to applicants upon submitting an application and the applicants have to sign saying they have rec'd it.

Hmmm... Must have missed that part. I haven't received any thing at all from my NRD ever. most of my knowledge about anything regarding ocs has come from this site. I did download the gouge pack from the OCS website though.

Well, you signed a sheet saying your rec'd it, that sheet is part of the application. I may have either been this version or the one before it, but it was very similar.

FYI, there are several subtle changes to the gouge pack on the OCS website/given to me before heading out and the pack that will be given to you on Day 0. As explained to me by a DI, it is to ensure that not everyone has the full scoop before they get to Newport and to ensure there is attention to detail. All the changes escape me at this moment but I know of one a change in the 9th General Order of the Sentry. Per the OCR/gouge pack at OCS, it is "To call the Officer of the Deck or Corporal of the Guard in any case not covered by instructions." As I said, the others I cannot recall but I still reiterate what everyone says. Study before you get there and your life will become much easier. Ensure to revert to OCR in any inconsistencies from gouge you have previously studied/received.
