They won't give you the retirement points unless you get the courses approved for points beforehand, and if they do give you points then it will be for your anniversary year(s) in which the completion date(s) fall for each of the courses.

Jim, it was my understanding that the three distance NWC JPME Phase 1 courses were already approved for points in the spreadsheet available on the PERS website. In addition, I will be in the IRR and do not believe approval for courses listed in the spreadsheet on the PERS website were necessary. Please correct me if i'm wrong as I don't want to make any mistakes here.

Ah, bad gouge on my part; sorry about that.

About three years ago was the most recent time that points for correspondence courses got tightened up. I was thinking about the part of how to get courses on the approved list.

Spoke with PERS IRR Department today and they confirmed that it does not/not matter how I complete the NWC JPME Phase 1 courses as long as they are simply completed, and the points will be remitted to me applicable to the date on the completion certificate. I will time my course completion to ensure good years for the next three years in a row. Just submitted my NWC online application for the web-based JPME Phase 1 program!
