NROTC Service Assignment MIDN/Officer Candidate Input

Hey gents,
I'm a 1/C NROTC MIDN about to submit my Designator Request through my unit, and I'd like to get some input on the remarks section. This is what I have so far, ASTB 68 8/7/6, GPA is 3.7 Tier 1, and PT is Excellent.

REMARKS: (Brief of skills, language ability, academic honors, or personal desires pertinent to service assignment)
I strongly desire to be a naval aviator. I am a certified private pilot with -XX- flight hours. I am an -XYZ Scholarship- Scholar, and have made the Dean's list -X- times. I hope to hone these skills in flight school to earn wings of gold.

My unit advisor didn't have a whole lot of information on what exactly the selection board is looking for in this section, or how much importance these remarks have. I'd appreciate any comments ya'll have.

@Beans will probably have a more factual-based answer, but with a 8/7/6 and a 3.7 in a Tier 1 major (that's STEM, right?), I'm not sure anything else matters.

Good luck!

Try this:
"I am a dynamic figure, often seen scaling walls and crushing ice. I have been known to remodel train stations on my lunch breaks, making them more efficient in the area of heat retention. I translate ethnic slurs for Cuban refugees, I write award-winning operas, I manage time efficiently. Occasionally, I tread water for three days in a row.
I woo women with my sensuous and godlike trombone playing, I can pilot bicycles up severe inclines with unflagging speed, and I cook Thirty-Minute Brownies in twenty minutes. I am an expert in stucco, a veteran in love, and an outlaw in Peru.
Using only a hoe and a large glass of water, I once single-handedly defended a small village in the Amazon Basin from a horde of ferocious army ants. I play bluegrass cello, I was scouted by the Mets, I am the subject of numerous documentaries. When I’m bored, I build large suspension bridges in my yard. I enjoy urban hang gliding. On Wednesdays, after school, I repair electrical appliances free of charge.
I am an abstract artist, a concrete analyst, and a ruthless bookie. Critics worldwide swoon over my original line of corduroy evening wear. I don’t perspire. I am a private citizen, yet I receive fan mail. I have been caller number nine and have won the weekend passes. Last summer I toured New Jersey with a traveling centrifugal-force demonstration. I bat 400. My deft floral arrangements have earned me fame in international botany circles. Children trust me.
I can hurl tennis rackets at small moving objects with deadly accuracy. I once read Paradise Lost, Moby Dick, and David Copperfield in one day and still had time to refurbish an entire dining room that evening. I know the exact location of every food item in the supermarket. I have performed several covert operations for the CIA. I sleep once a week; when I do sleep, I sleep in a chair. While on vacation in Canada, I successfully negotiated with a group of terrorists who had seized a small bakery. The laws of physics do not apply to me.
I balance, I weave, I dodge, I frolic, and my bills are all paid. On weekends, to let off steam, I participate in full-contact origami. Years ago I discovered the meaning of life but forgot to write it down. I have made extraordinary four course meals using only a mouli and a toaster oven. I breed prizewinning clams. I have won bullfights in San Juan, cliff-diving competitions in Sri Lanka, and spelling bees at the Kremlin. I have played Hamlet, I have performed open-heart surgery, and I have spoken with Elvis.
But I have not yet gone to flight school."

Your chances diminish 42% when you ask strangers to find the answers for you.

Pags' suggestion is a good one but it's very long. If you're looking for brevity, try quoting RUN DMC:

Now I walked on ice and never fell (1)
I spent my time in a plush hotel (2)
I stood on many stages, held many mics (3)
Take airplane flights, at huge heights (4)

(1) There is a snowstorm in Norfolk almost every year
(2) Stretching the truth a lot with this one, nothing "plush" about crew berthing or any lodging booked through DTS
(3) Public speaking/professional development in ROTC naval science courses
(4) Aviation summer cruise

Or if RUN DMC isnt your thing you can go with one of the other great philosophers of our time:
"Anything less than the best is a felony."

When did they add a remarks section? We just listed our choices, that was it.

Thanks for the shoutout @Gatordev ! Yeah you're looking good w/ the ASTB score (what's up w/ the 6 dude?), but my gouge is going on 3 years old, now. Your OI should have the latest, and it always puzzles me when MIDN have to ask this board for advice, when they have a well-informed OI assigned to the task.

Anyway your biggest hazard is if The Hunt fails to satisfy Naval Reactors' hunger for fresh MIDN. Then your 3.7 STEM GPA will turn against you. Relax. Also your statement probably doesn't matter all that much. They'll probably like your short response. Last sentence, what does "these skills" reference? Making the dean's list, having a scholarship, and having hours are good things, but they're not "skills." Also capitalize Naval Aviator.

Really appreciate all the inputs esp @Beans , this is first year that there's been a comments section on the application and according to my OI, very little guidance has been passed regarding it. Sadly, I was unable to use the work RUN DMC or any of the other esteemed philosophers of our age, mainly for plagarism concerns.
