I've seen a bunch of SEALs running around in these new green NWUs lately. I thought they were Multicam at first. They're not bad, certainly better than the stupid blueberry uniform that I haven't seen a single SEAL in, but I still like the Marine cammies the best.

so dudes can wear the GI JOE suit, er NWUs, pretty much anywhere they want now, but I still get shit on by a MMCPO for wearing a flight suit and nomex jacket to the dental clinic.

Yes. Welcome to the discussion held 4 months ago. And 4 months before that. And...

Sometimes this forum is one big Naval Information mobius strip.

I wore Jeans, a Flannel and an Iron Maiden shirt to work..And the Scotsman I work for thought I was overdressed.

I'm waiting on the head mechanic from the repair shop to come bitch about my wearing of FRCs (think flightsuits for oilfield workers) to McDonald's to grab lunch for my crew, but I don't think it's happening anytime soon.

Not sure what you were reading, but the "Blueberries in town during working hours" authorization happened many months ago.

Brett, oilfield services is like the anti-military in many ways, most of them good.

And all that time after you didn't select, we thought you were just going to end up on the dole. Good to see a rough and tumble kid make something of himself.

I think he's referring to the NAVADMIN that came out in the last week or two, that clarified... MUCH MORE than just during working hours...

From NAVADMIN 366/11:

THIS GUIDANCE UPDATES AND REPLACES REF A, PARA 5.A.(1). NWU TYPE I, II AND III WEAR IS AUTHORIZED FOR COMMUTING AND ALL NORMAL TASKS AND ASSOCIATED STOPS (E.G. STOPS AT CHILD CARE, GAS STATIONS, OFF-BASE
SHOPPING, BANKING, DMV AND DINING) BEFORE, DURING AND AFTER THE WORKDAY. SINCE NWUS ARE NOT A LIBERTY UNIFORM, CONSUMPTION OF ALCOHOL WHILE OFF-BASE IN NWUS IS NOT PERMITTED.

The way that reads to me is that as long as you aren't drinking, you're good!

The way it read to me is that you need to do all of your drinking at work, so that way you're not consuming alcohol while off-base in NWUs.

I'm not real savvy on the "Message Traffic" these days, so that's definitely a new one. So...basically you can lounge around in your ridiculous blue uniform at all hours. Great. I don't care what Phrogdriver says, we're PRESTIGIOUS!
