Okay, asking for a friend...
If you get orders to, say, Kuwait, on a Joint Staff billet...where they wear Army ACU’s...can you still wear your Naval Aviator Wings?

I vote yes (see picture) but have a guy being told no...

Small error in fact here. That is from an AR (army regulation) and applies to soldiers only. Being assigned to an area that wears an ACU for “jointness” doesn’t eliminate your place within your own branch of the service.

Better to ask forgiveness than permission!

In practice it will likely be up to the command and the command's CSM, who are usually responsible for uniform stuff believe it or not. I was in a 'joint', in reality Army, command where everyone wore Army uniforms and the only difference for a while was the color or shape of some of the ranks and Navy instead of Army on the name tapes. After a while we squeezed in other distinctions like covers, we had 8-point Navy/USMC ones made in the Army pattern, and First Navy Jack patches on the other sleeve. No one wore any badges so wings were a moot point.

We had a critical mass of Navy aviation types on staff though that enough of us showed up one day in flight suits without telling the Army we made it a de facto uniform for the rest of our time there though it technically wasn't authorized. The Army guys (most of the senior O's at least) were actually pretty cool with it, enough of a novelty they thought it was fun and never gave us any grief about what we wore on them without us pushing it too far. The fact it drove the Army NCO's crazy was a bonus for us and the senior Army O's, so dependent on the staff's leadership you might be able to get away with it.

Seems pretty clear to me

I would think part of the answer would be in the regulation requiring you to wear an Army (OCP or ACU) uniform in the first place. Strictly adhering to AR 670-1, the answer is YES, you can wear your Naval Aviator Wings. The question is, can you or should you wear gold wings or subdued?

Does the navy have subdued metal badges now? The only time I saw someone wear metal pin-on wings in OCP or ACU, they spray painted them black. Otherwise they were sewn on.

FWIW, para 22-12 g.(1) Applies to Army soldiers who have Naval Aviator (or Air Force) wings. Once you earn Army wings, basic, senior or master, you are no longer authorized to wear your wings from another service.

"22-12 g.
...
(1) Military combat or special skill badges awarded by other U.S. Services that are similar to U.S. Army combat or
special skill badges are worn on the Army uniform in the same manner as U.S. Army combat or special skill badges,
only if no Army badges are authorized for wear in the same group. For example, a Soldier who had no group 3 badges
(as outlined in DA Pam 670–1) could wear aviation badges awarded by the U.S. Air Force as group 3 badges (as Army
aviation and aviator badges are worn). However, if the individual was authorized to wear an Army badge in group 3, the
Soldier would not be authorized to wear the group 3 badge from the U.S. Air Force.
"

LOL Unless the Air Force is treated specially.

So NO, I do NOT get to wear both my Naval Aviator and Master Army Aviator wings.

Worked with a USAF officer who wore his Naval Parachutist badge on his service uniform (can't remember if they are called Class A's or B's)

The gold wings definitely looked out of place/ conspicuous, but not in a bad way.

That’s funny because I now sport master pilot wings and my Naval Aviator wings on my uniforms.
That could be because you are (I assume) in the Air Guard. They can do all sorts of weird stuff. They probably have some "state wings" you can pin on as well!

Yes, but you aren't Army, following AR 670-1.

I have all kinds of extra fruit salad from the guard. These are my participation trophies just for being in, deploying with, or doing state active duty with the Florida Army National Guard:

*ARCAM - Army Reserve Component Achievement Medal
AFRM - Armed Forces Reserve Medal (with 'M' device)
ASR - Army Service Ribbon
FLSVCRIB - Florida Service Ribbon
FLSADRIB - Florida State Active Duty Ribbon

Not to be confused with the being in the right unit at the right time awards:

NAVE - Battle E
**NDSM - National Defense Service Ribbon x 2
PUC - Presidential Unit Citation
JMUC - Joint Meritorious Unit Citation
MUC - Navy Meritorious Unit Commendation
MUC - Army Unit Commendation Medal

Aren't the Reserves and National Guard great? We show up and we get ribbons. That's what we do.

* NOT a NAM!!! This is awarded if you are alive and serving in the reserve component.
** Being in ANY unit during the right time award
