Why keep the fwd handgrip if you hold your rifle that way?

And how well do you like that style with attachments (lights/lasers)?

Honestly? Because that upper had the Rail Vertical Grip already on it and the whole package seemed to work. Generally, I tend to run Larue Hand Stops on my carbines, across the board, so those styles of grip worked well (and was California-friendly while I was there) but the RVG end up providing the same form factor. I also like having something that I can push against a barricade, as that's a common shooting position that I run into.

*Note, that's not me in the picture, though I shoot it the same way.

I had an ATPIAL-C on that upper for a bit, to try out the ergos. It worked well. Personally, I've found that if you need to make room for a laser and a light, a side-mounted light (3 o'clock) with a pad and the PEQ on top worked, but if you didn't need the laser, a 11 o'clock setup with a push-button worked as well. I don't own NODs, though, so I can only talk to shooting in unaided night conditions.

Cool, didn't know they finally released civilianized PEQ-15's.

I've always figured it's either NODs+IR laser or light...if you can afford a good set of the former, not really inclined to add the latter with its bulk and weight.

I had the opportunity to shoot the P320 full-sized model in 9mm a week ago. I've heard nothing but praise for SIG offerings and I totally get it. Found the 320 to be one of those rare gems that fits perfectly into your grip, as if it were an extension of your arm. Put out some excellent groupings at 10-15 meters with minimal exposure to the weapon which really shocked me since I'm so rusty. The adjoining shop had the compact model for around $650 or so and I was beyond tempted to blow my money on it right there.

Love the ACOG/RMR setup. Is that a TA-31?

RIS II: 12.25". The barrel (14.5") gives the optical illusion that it's longer.

It is, mounted on a KRAM spacer so I can get it farther back. I really need to slide the whole setup back another notch or two so I can extend the stock out another click when using the ACOG.

Roger that. I love my TA-31 too, but the eye-relief is definitely on the tight side.

I went with the TA-11 for just this reason. Little less FOV and mag but much better eye relief!

Latest build - this is truly a parts bin rifle, motivated by a $39 dollar lower receiver purchase. The upper was at one time a standard M4 style GI carbine upper.

Repurposed an old JP Rifles free float handguard, a Surefire MB556K comp/break. The hardest part of this build was convincing taper pins from the GI front sight/gas block - which remained frozen in place until I attacked with aball pean hammer and a taper punch (along with some WD40).

Also challenging is the installation of the JP Rifles handguard/free float tube. Getting the rear handguard base to stay perfectly aligned to gas tube port while torking the inner barrel nut to spec takes trial and error.

I removed the forward assist (replaced with a Schuster plug) - and the ejection port cover. Both are meaningless IMHO (YMMV).

Anderson Arms trigger (nickle boron). Very nice upgrade for cheap $. I like 20 round magazines btw. These are C-Products with Magpul followers and Ranger plates.

Now @Gatordev needs to host the first Airwarrior invitational tactical rifle/pistol match. @mad dog and I will road trip in the Police Interceptor.
