Hello all,

Just moved up to Milton for primary. I've been on a couple of rides solo and there are some pretty awesome routes going up into the sticks. As you fellow cyclists know cycling is much more enjoyable with others and is also safer.

So, if anybody ever wants to go for a ride PM me and we'll set it up. Or if you know of a group that already rides let me know. Definitely want to either join a group or start one.

Be safe. Panhandle Floridaman is an asshole...he will try to use the mirrors on his lifted F-350 with trucknutz to knock you off your bike.

There's a pretty solid cycling scene in Pensacola but if you head over to Alabama the riding in Baldwin County is much better.

Blackwater Trail is pretty solid for a short ride. I used to do an out and in to the back gate of Whiting that was about 16 miles. A few really good Strava segments there and you're not on the shoulder of the road for most of it.

I used to join a group at the Milton end of the Blackwater Trail on Saturday mornings. Some would continue on for a >50mi trip. They weren't friendly, though. For example, they'd ditch you if you slowed down to make your turns safely (wasn't exactly a swept race course), but it's probably better than being solo. I had good and bad experiences on the shoulderless roads around Whiting - pretty sure someone hit me with a quarter (which isn't a small thing at 20+ mph), and another family took me to the hospital when I shwacked my chin on the pavement in front of their house in the middle of nowhere. There are some out there who still think spandex=gay=evil.

He's also drunk.

Good miles with some hills (NW FL hills....) to be had if you link UWF and Scenic Highway. But again, watch out for Florida-Man,

Sorry I was late to the conversation...

If you get run down by a big, blue, lifted F-250 on 182, it was DEFINITELY not my wife....
