OK, FWIW, this usually up-to-speed old geezer also had not heard the term Mexican General before either.

But I do remember laughing at the Cold War Soviet Generals medals. There used to be a Sunday newspaper color cartoon during the Cold War depicting fat old Soviet Generals totally covered with big stars, crosses, ribbons etc. all over their uniform.

What goes around comes around eventually I suppose.
