If you affiliate with VTU, are you in the same pool of involunatry mobilizations as SELRES, or are you in the "break in case of WWIII" pool that IRR-ASP is in?

All the folks I know who have MOB'd were either SELRES or volunteered with one exception. That said I don't know many VTU folks to begin with, I'll try and ask around this upcoming drill weekend.

Much appreciated

Has anyone in the "3 years IRR for ISP" group called in or gotten an answer on our deal?

So does this mean that you basically can't go from SELRES to IRR unless you satisfy the 16 years or those select communities?

So if you were a Reservist and wanted to stop drilling, you would have to get out of the Navy entirely?

If you go VTU and you don't want to get involuntarily mobilized, you probably needn't worry unless you have something weird in your record like 5/5/5 Pashto and Dari language skills and a TS eligibility.

Will PERS-93 notify members who are being transferred to USNR-S2 status? I am borderline at 16 years, and it just depends how it is accounted. As of 30 SEP 17 I had 41 points from correspondence courses. The 15 gratuity points would put me at 56 points. Any thoughts on how it will be counted?

I wouldn't count anyone at PERS to formally notify you of anything. Be the proactive squeaky wheel.

I am considering waiting a while to contact PERS-93. I am guessing that someone is making the call and it will be disseminated slowly to those who are answering the phones. Would the IRR counselor be a better contact? I've never had much luck with them.

What snake said. If you wait for Millington to notify you of anything, I guarantee damn tee you it’ll be too late and then it’ll be on you to unfuck it.

Fester is right- don't wait. PERS-93 told me there is a 60 day deadline to do something before you start getting processed for separation and that clock started ticking already. The MILPERSMAN change was approved late September and the notice went out last week...so by the time people found out, you were already 3 weeks behind the ball.

PERS-911D is the only office that can help you and I have been waiting since last week for them to return the voicemail I left.

I sent an email to the IRR Counselor asking "Will members be notified if they are being transferred to USNR-S2?" and they responded "Service members will be notified on the date of 1 December 2017 as this is the date members will be placed in the USNR-S2 status." However, I am not going to wait to be notified. I am planning on calling PERS-93 and PERS-911D every day. Thanks for the advice.

If I remember correctly, you do not collect the 15 gratuity points in a S2 status. You need to compare your anniversary date with the date of being transferred to S2 to compute how many gratuity points you will actually earn.

Best part is, I'm sure there are plenty of dudes in the IRR who won't get that email, for whatever reason, and first they'll know about is getting a "surprise! fuck you!" certified letter from Millington.
