The Washington Post said it was two Navy pilots (one NFO, perhaps?) in an F/A-18D based at Oceana. Are there Ds in Norfolk? Sounded off.
The rag has D's for training. Could've been 2 pilots or a pilot and NFO.
There are D's there. Also A's, B's and C's all at 106.
Why do they keep on harping about the FRS stud...... For it being such a Navy town, I am surprised VA Beach has not a clue that FRS studs train there.

The city of Virginia Beach has been encroaching on Oceana and Fentress for years now. This was actually a big issue during the latest BRAC, so the City of Va Beach actually had to start enforcing its own zoning laws and telling developers they couldn't keep building on any open piece of land they could find!
While this encroachment may not been a contributing factor to the fatalities in this case, I can't wait for all the OpEd and Letters to the Editor that will call for the closing of the base and the OLF because this will (probably) happen again.

When something like this happens, is it possible for the SNA to lose his chance of getting Winged? Even if its not his fault?
If you're asking about the pilot - he wasn't a SNA. He is a winged naval aviator. There is a process for all of it.

Nope, Oceana shut down flights ops entirely afterwards. Everyone airborne had to divert. Yup, that's the Navy for you.
