Hey guys,
I was lucky enough to get the HAP benefits last year and I'm doing my taxes. Just wanted to pass this on to anyone else that received benefits, looks like it is a IRS loophole but legal. It got my an extra $8000 on my return. I haven't received the letter from this guy yet but I'm expecting it on my navy.mil account today or tomorrow. I also have the info for an accountant who is well versed in the HAP portion of tax returns, let me know if you want the info:

Has anyone used the program in the last couple of months? Trying to figure out the average time for the benefit check to show up.

It's a little dated, but I think my package went in around Oct-Nov 11 and I had my check in Jan 12. I was held up for a few weeks due to funding (they were waiting for additional funding to be approved). Once that was approved, it was only another 2 weeks until check was in hand (with the holidays in there, as well).
