To make the matter more intricate, from Washington-1922 CA stands for A-cruiser, i.e. 10.000 ton and 8" guns, which is so-called heavy cruiser, while CB was from London-1930 for B-cruiser, i.e. 6" guns with no dimentions limit, which eventually became light cruiser (CL) in USN slang, as CB, you are right Pags, went for a cruiser, battle (Alaska-class). Why not to recognize the first C in CV for "carrier"?

I figured it was a joke.

So, is 6'3" or 6'4" possible for the F-18? Generally, no, I assume? Have folks here met jet pilots that tall?

Yes. It is possible. And comfortable. Done.

This has been covered in other threads, but the USN height requirement for pilot is 62.0"-77.0". Nothing above or below. But really what it boils down to is your anthropomorphic measurements and nude weight. Check out these three documents for details. Aviation Physical Standards. OPNAVINST 3710.37A (ANTHROPOMETRIC ACCOMMODATION IN NAVAL AIRCRAFT). NAVAIRINST 3710.9D (ANTHROPOMETRIC ACCOMMODATION IN NAVAL AVIATION)
Like they said earlier...it's not about height, it's torso length. 39" sitting height for the T-45. Some 6'4" guys have a shorter torso than some 6'1" guys.

Typically nothing is comfortable about sitting in a jet.
One of my friends is 6'5" and is actually not anthro'd out of jets, but I know several people smaller than that who are.
I know guys that tall flying jets, but don’t forget there is an entire list of anhro requirements, not just height.
I'm 6' 2" and fit as comfortably as can be expected and I know several VFA pilots who are noticeably taller than me. In the 6'4" - 6'5" range. Just hope the anthros work in your favor is all.
It’s actually not that big of a deal to be that tall in a Hornet cockpit. You’ll be as comfortable or uncomfortable as most other pilots that aren’t as tall. The big deal happens in the T-45 cockpit which is noticeably smaller than the Hornet’s.
Yes. It is possible. And comfortable. Done.

But, can someone who is 6’4” fit in a hornet? Has anyone heard of someone that tall in hornets?

So I read through this thread and really couldn’t find an answer. Is sitting height for eye level or top of your head?
