New York required a TON of documentation.

I had to list previous addresses and employers for the last 5-10 years, obtain four notarized character references, provide a notarized explanation of my military service, motor vehicle driving record, fingerprints, two passport photos, utility/tax bills, NYS drivers license, and apply for a mental health background search.

And to purchase a handgun you need to go to police headquarters, buy a purchase document ($10), buy your gun, and take it directly to police HQ for inspection/registration.

insert sarcasm font - Well, it does keep the crime down in NYC and it's for the children - end sarcasm font:rolleyes:

No, I was born and raised in NY. I had a PA carry for five years before it expired, and I currently have a VA CCW. Both the PA and VA permits were inexpensive and very easy to obtain. New York required a TON of documentation. I'd rather do two SF-86s. Maybe three.

I'm sure there are a few other items. ALL FOR A HOME/TARGET PERMIT. It's a slap in the face of the Second Amendment.

Wow. That is pretty outlandish.

Second on the PA non-resident permit. Centre County has some good people.

Penn State, and the State Pen, all within a few miles . . . I remember before I-99 went through when you actually had to drive past the front gate of the prison on Highway 26 to get to State College.

NY...ha.

I live in DC, love it...besides it being a self licking political millennial ice cream cone zone and the gun laws...FML. My arms are sitting at my buds place down in VA.

I have a concealed carry permit here in VA as well as the Utah one which is good in a lot of states. When I was stationed in San Diego a few years ago I tried to get a CC permit because I heard San Diego was a little more gun-friendly then the rest of the CA. Long-story short, the SD sheriff told me that I needed a valid reason to get a CC, for example if I or my wife and kids had been a victim of a violent assault then he would sign off on it.

Yeah, unless you’re a celebrity, good luck getting a CCW in Commie-fornia.

There may be a loophole somewhere, but they’re exceedingly rare.

Tulare, Kern and Fresno Counties are great for CCW approvals. Just have a short drive to Lemoore and you're good to go. Not all of CA is defective.
