Got Sig?

I have fondled one, and there's a guy at the Bud's USPSA matches who shoots one (with good results) here in Lexington. But that, along with some jackwagon's dissertation on how Sig's 1911s are the 'one pistol they got right' is the extent of my experience with them. The one time I did gratuitously fondle one, it did seem to have a respectable level of fit/finish to it. I would have liked a chance to shoot it.

Speaking of Sig, anybody else seen their military group sales deal? Personalized/ engraved Sig, 25 min order IIRC, and it's supposedly below MSRP. They have the 200, 229, 226, 1911, and a few others avail.

Just curious if anyone had gotten an order together and how it went.

ALSO NOT--I SAY AGAIN, **NOT**--VOLUNTEERING FOR ANYTHING.

I think that E5B (sorry, man) was the instigator of a failed attempt at a Sig group buy for a deployment we were on a few years ago. I think it fell through largely due to the perceived ass pain involved with NC laws, which drove people away from the idea, but it could have been a disagreement over caliber, too. Unfortunately, most of that deployment was spent with the grunts, instead of hanging out at Timmy Horton's/the boardwalk, so I don't have any more details about what happened.

Sapper!

Excuse the BS...

Come on, you know you couldn't get enough of the 'husky' Canadian chicks foundering in the street hockey rink. Never, under any circumstances, EVER mess with a Gurkha cricket match, though. Apparently being a hardcore killing machine with a big ass, bent machete also means that you're a giant dick when it comes to people cheering for the opposite side. Some Estonians found that out.

Quite a few Sigs floating around southern Afghanistan, though. The Brits ditched their Brownings in favor of 226s, among other military adopters.

We did it for our last deployment and they are real beauties. I have a 1911 with black nitron finish, rosewood grips, Trijicon night sights and engraving. Sig messed up the engraving initially but they handled it well despite the delay. It was $870 plus FFL fees. Overall I'd say worth it and they are smooooooth. I didn't set up the deal though but it didn't seem too bad other than the usual herding cats problems.

The other issue is that they all have to be the same: model, caliber, engraving, etc. so you'd have to come up with all those details on your own or at least find consensus.

A 226 group buy would be sweet, especially with something unique like rosewood grips or the NSW marking. I'm still pissed I missed out on the hkpro.com HK45 group buy @ $800

Would they split the engraving between pilots and FOs? Or did every detail have to be the same?

Their ad copy seems to indicate every detail needs to be the same, with the exception of up to two lines of text near the extractor (presumably for a name ).

Not sure, but my guess is they all have to be the same. I know we had to make ours generic for the TSC guys to get in on the deal which makes me believe they all have to be exactly the same. Their rules may have changed so give them a call though.

I am in the initial stages of setting up a buy to commemorate one of our deputies who was killed in the line of duty on 23 Oct 2011. I would be glad to share my experience with Sig if it would be helpful to any of you who were thinking of using the program.

This is literally the first day of the process, but through several e-mails and phone conversations they seem to be squared away and helpful.

From the information that I have, they require each weapon to be identical.
