Is there a thread up yet on the FY19 O-4 board? The search came up dry. I'm always curious of the Aviators POV on the "new normals."

Most JOs care about getting out and getting to the airlines these days. No one seems to be too concerned about not making O-4 anymore... they’re probably more concerned about making it and getting stuck through a DH tour they don’t want instead of getting out and going to the show right away.

You mean the annual list of people that don’t get a $70,000 bonus to leave for a better career?

You guys do a great job at getting peoples careers started, I'd like to think of myself as a product. But I'm sure there are users who would like to know more about the late game content should they stay beyond O-3. Boardsmanship is part of it.

There’s not much more than anecdotes at this point. The results were posted and PERS is crunching stats to give more info, but the story hasn’t changed much since all the wings plus 8 contracts started going to the board (multiple ranked EP FITREPs in competitive and “valued” tours). Off that path invites risk, and a lot of people are leaving for multitudes of reasons.

I’m sure if there many interested they’d have posted it as you did. Trends are good to know when you’re playing the game and want to win (whether or not you define a win as staying in or getting out).

With the this most recent O-4 board, I’ve only see two folks I know make any reference to it on social media... both were non pilots who were successful and I’m glad that things paid off for them.

Every fleet pilot (O-3 to O-6) I know is posting on social media about transition to the airlines.

If I was a manpower underling who know that traditionally in years past pilot folks used this website to gather information about how to successfully stay on path beyond O-3 and there’s been no interest from any of them this year I’d be pretty worried.

This is the first true year of the pilot deficit and getting a flying job on the outside is like fishing with dynamite already. It’s a great time to not be on Active Duty...

Did you submit a don’t pick me letter to the board?
Why? The Bavy doesn’t tell you ahead of time their not going to pick you....

Why burn bridges? Something last minute changes and you might still need that Navy paycheck.

Big Navy has no loyalty to the individual so why should the individual be loyal (i.e. give a heads up) to Big Navy?

I dunno. If you’re leaving anyway, that could help someone who wants to stay get promoted.
