Wow, thanks for posting on the board, BU1! Congrats on being selected as alternate! Three times shows dedication, I bet you got it next year. I don't mind at all: I am an LS2 and currently at Navy Personnel Command. After this semester, I only have 15 classes left to get my EE degree. I have my basic stats listed in the signature block (If you are looking at this on a tablet/phone you have to turn it sideways to see it in mobile view). My CO endorsement and interviews were pretty lights out. I believe my personal statement painted a very accurate picture of me. Do you mind me asking what your SAT/ACT scores were?

I didn't realize this program was open to AD until Siege asked me about it. I work in a different building than the CEC Accessions Officers, but I will try to schedule a meeting and definitely pass anything I learn about the Collegiate Program on to you, Siege.

My composite was a 25, Math 27, English 20. The version I took also had a added test and mine was stem which I scored a 26 on. I currently have a 3.62 GPA in ODU's CEE program. I have a ton of volunteer hours. I also had 3 LORs from Admirals in my package. There were a total of 4 Admirals in the CEC, and I had LORs from 2 of them.

I'm going off of here https://www.navycs.com/officer/civilengineerofficer.html
"Enlisted members of any service (active and reserve) will be placed into an active duty status in their present pay grade. If below the pay grade of E-3, they will be meritoriously advanced to Officer Candidate, OCSN (E-3)."
Though it's a .com it says it's drawing from Navy Civil Engineer Corps Officer Program Authorization 104 which I can't seem to find anywhere.

I have never seen that used, they get so many candidates that are already in college why would they need to use it for anyone else.

That is a pretty amazing package. You are the first select/alt for the CEC that has posted on here in a long time. That will give us future hopefuls a good example of how to improve our chances. I am guessing that having great exposure goes a long way in such a community as small as the CEC. You seem exceedingly on point. Best of luck to you!

Appreciate it! The exposure does help. I also knew a lot of detail about the career path and what my plans were in the CEC. I talked to a CEC Accessions Officer today to inquire about active duty personnel being able to apply, unfortunately we can't apply for that program. But they do hold boards 4 times a year vs 1 for STA-21 plus they most likely have more quotas available specifically for CEC. Had I knew about this program a few years ago I would have elected to get out and apply for it. I have too much time on my current contract to think about the collegiate program so its STA-21 or bust for me. Keep charging though, you are a solid applicant from your stats. although we are applying for the same quota I will gladly help if I can and you need assistance.

I'm sort of in the same boat as you BU1, I'm enlisted till 12 years and my trust is not at the level of "get out at 12 and try to get selected for CP", here's hoping to finish my degree shortly after 12 though and direct apply.

Just wanted to follow up with the CEC collegiate program. The CEC Accessions Officer called me back today and it is possible to apply with a conditional release from active duty (He said people have difficulties getting one). So: you get released if selected and nothing changes if you are not selected. However, you have to currently be a full-time student and @RUFiO181 is correct that you will be an E-3 until graduating and leaving for OCS (this is because they are not taking you DIRECTLY from active duty...they are accepting you as a released civilian). He did say that he has a couple active duty applying on this next cycle. In short...it is possible but seems like a needless hardship if you are not E-3 or below. If you are already a full-time student (which you have to be to apply anyways) and getting paid much better than an E-3: OCS is the way to go.

I was also told that they are currently in the process of getting the PA changed to make the non-wavier minimum age 42 vice 35 for anyone that is worried about that. (Like myself: 33)

Thanks Hasty, I suppose that's a good point. I'm only 28 but I'd assume with the fact that medical and engineers are eligible till 42 that OCS is still a viable option even if I have to apply at 14 years TIS, hopefully. Now to enjoy the World Series and the holidays till it's time to reload for next year.

Hello, Hopefully you are doing great. Thanks for all the great advice on STA-21. I am making my STA-21 Application as Pilot and I would like to make a strong application. Is it possible to get access to your STA-21 package, the drop box here says link is expired. I will be using your application to see where mine stands.

Thanks.
