Per the 2015 dated IP PA, it lists these:
2 week DCOIC (Newport)
3 week Information Dominance Basic Course (Dam Neck)
1 week Officer Leadership Course (Dam Neck)
8 week IP Basic (Pensacola)

I asked my OR and he had the same (2015) PA, and was unaware of any changes. But I did see that article about a new 20wk IP Basic pilot course in Dam Neck (completed a few months ago with first class)...

I wonder if officers learn coding, networking? Or is it more operating software and communications? I know officers are more hands off. I was told I am suited for IP but I don't have the degree/certs..

IP looks to be the most technical of the programs, I am not sure exactly why they would recommend that to you. Maybe because it is more aligned with your current role as a DBA.

Only thing I can think of is my OS experience (operations/communications/electronic warfare) mixed with my current experience. But its not really "IT" its more operations. I mean even the OIC said the same thing as my interviewers and I believe the OIC was INTEL. They must know something I don't know...From what I'm researching on the net it looks like the IP designator is expanding /becoming more Operations/Communications/Cyber/C4I based. Anyone on here please feel free to chime in if I am wrong...Maybe some more billets are opening up? Who knows

Could be. I have some of the certs that they are looking for and 16 years of IT experience in the IC. I applied for CW/Intel/IP but I am going to change to IP/CW/Intel this year. They even came back and asked me for copies of all my certs. I am starting a MS program in Cyber this year as well as a few other Cyber certs that I am getting.

They wanted a copy of my certs. But mine are Configuration Management based certs and I am an instructional substitute teacher. I do have alot of experience teaching/training/advising. I read somewhere ITs and IPs conduct computer training so maybe that was another reason. I train government and contract personnel on our software. I don't have certs they are looking for, for IP. So again I don't why they were saying IP,IP,IP lol

Sounds like we've got a lot of the same experience...I'm starting my masters Jun 1 in cybersecurity, hoping to have it wrapped up in 1yr, so it'll be nice and shiny for next year, assuming I don't get selected FY18. I was originally going for a IT Mgmt masters but the courses were, well, much duller on that side, to me...got to keep my interest, a little bit.

Are you prior enlisted?

No sir. (understand the misunderstanding, my eyes skipped over the "16 years experience in the IC"). That's not greatly in my favor, I know, but taking a swing at it nonetheless.

Ok, so apparently I checked the National Science Foundation (NSF) Approved STEM major fields and (Communications) is one of them. So now it makes sense why they said I would be suited for IP mixed with my OS, and experience with software....I read online that (IP Professionals are Communications Officers) Thoughts?
