The issue here is that people that get the CISSP without experience is the issue. At the end of the day, it's a good way to discriminate between two individuals with similar experience.
While it may require memorization, there are certain aspects of the certification that do require analytical thinking.

Finally time to contact an OR. I live in Tampa, FL and am currently in the USAFR. Anyone have a contact for a good (responsive) OR that serves my area? I'm not a big fan of cold calling some random number found on google.

Best bet is to contact the local recruiting office and ask to speak to their DIVO. More than likely they'll help you out.

I had my interview for INTEL today and it went really well. Made a good connection with the interviewers and the OIC. However, they all said my experience makes me more suited for IP. I don't have a technology / Computer Science degree so I wasn't really sure what to make of that. Does anyone have a copy of the IP Program Authorization? I cannot seem to find it online..

Thanks. I am looking at the PA and I don't know why they said I am better suited for IP. Scratching my head

You can list your credentials here if you like. I think most in the last thread listed at least their degree, experience, prior service and certs.

I will say I am kind of perplexed as well, my concern would be that the OIC's thoughts don't line up with those of the board, or that while your current work may align more with IP that when you are stacked against the other IP applicants your experience won't be as great as what they have done.

The advantage is you are a younger applicant so you aren't up against an age clock which means you can keep improving your experience and finish that Masters.

According to our OIC who's sat on the board they want STEM-related majors, in particular Computer Science/Engineering and cybersecurity majors.

Right. And I know I don't have a shot against those who have those type of degrees /certifications so I'm wondering what kind of write up the OIC will write. Will they say i am more geared towards one designator or say i would fit well into the community as a whole? I will say I impressed all 3 of them. The OIC told me they are looking for younger guys they can get more time out of. Reminder i am 31 turning 32 this summer. So I'm just a little confused why they all thought that. Does it matter how I order my 3 based on how the board will select? I would prefer (Intel, IP, IW).

I am totally with you on that. That's why it didn't compute after I left. My education and experience I feel is more closely related to INTEL

The thing is with DCO usually a person just goes for Intel or IP or IW and then has interviews geared specifically for that designator, IWC also has a 60/40 split for tech/non-tech degrees so that also comes into play, not sure how that will look if you put Intel first and he says you should be IP, it would be interesting to see what he puts for your scores.

It was for INTEL. But my recruiter put me in for the other designators to give me a shot at the others. I feel if I put IP as number one I would be wasting my number one choice. I am just confused to be honest

Thanks very much!!! I've been hunting for that for a while now myself. Do you know if it is the latest version, because it doesn't reference the 20wk IP Basic (active duty version) for reservists in it...not sure if they have updated the doc to reflect that yet?
