First, congrats on your future winging. I don't think anyone on the board is a VR guy. I hope you get some good gouge. I can say that you will enjoy working in a Reserve Squadron. You will be a trail blazer since this program is new. Everyone else is a fleet guy and didn't fly the Chuck 130 until they came to VR. But I am sure the guys will treat you real well. Remember, these guys are ultra volunteers. They did their time, have jobs and real lives outside the Navy, but they still serve. Most are very dedicated to the Navy and the mission they perform. My experience was that the enlisted in a reserve squadron were top shelf. Makes Div O jobs easy. Oh, and you C-130 guys have contract maint as I recall so Div O jobs will differ from an active fleet outfit. More then on active duty even, reserve guys hate the paperwork and BS. It is all about the mission. Git 'er done and go home. Don't expect the reserve guys to have bushy hair, wrinkled uniforms, and dull shoes though. What you may find though, is more of a willingness to speak out. Since a reseve guy doesn't have to worry about his Navy career as a sole source of employment, and they have many more examples of other operations and methods of doing things (more experience in different squadrons and wings then a typical active squadron plus a civilian outlook) , they will speak out about BS before the active duty guys. They are more willing to take a bullet on principle. There should be very good flying time in a VR squadron and you will learn a load from all the experience you find there. Good Luck
