When is the flight suit change supposed to take place? I was issued tan flight suits pretty recently.
This is part of the issue. SNAs get issued tan flight suits but then show up to some fleet locations where they're not authorized and now only have one green suit to wear. Said individual than annoys everyone with their stink and gets counseled by RAG IP. Repeat 40 weeks a year.
There used to be a little known building at Whiting where, if you asked, they'd give you the flight suits of attrites. I went there prior to leaving for the RAG and got a pile of thermals, flight suits, etc. This is part of the issue. Do studs still get 4 sets of bags, 2 khaki and two green?
Historically, everyone got 3 greens and one over-sized green. Then at some point (I think when I was an IP), studs got 3 sets of some flavor of sizing, but all green. By the time I was leaving (or maybe shortly thereafter), they started issuing 1 green, 2 tan, and 1 over-sized green since everyone was eventually wearing tan anyway by the time they hit the fleet (and the Marines needed them to abide by their rules).
The last I heard (which was a couple of months ago, in part due to the tan bag endeavor) was that studs were getting 1, 1, and 2 still, even though they can't actually wear the 2 tans while going through most of their training pipeline (at least for most communities on the Navy side).
That's what I got back in aught-4.Yes. Over-sized for the dry suit. In 2000, that was the thing to do.

I thought with the new bags you didn't need to wear a flight suit over? They've a nomex outer shell, pockets, all that jazz.

Correct. In 2010ish they stopped doing oversized bag for exposure suits and went to an exposure suit with integrated pockets. Got mine in the FRS. Kinda nice actually. 2 green, 2 tan of your normal size was issued in API.
