Flight physical, Navy/Marines

Greetings everyone, thanks for all your help in advance.

Long story short, I was applying for Marine OCS this past year and went and got my flight physical at NAS JAX. Turns out I’m DQ’d from SNA but I’m PQ/AA DIF SNFO, luckily.

I’ve started to get a package together for Navy OCS because the Marines are no longer taking applicants for NFO slots because they’re getting rid of NFO platforms. My question is: if I’ve already been found physically qualified for SNFO, will I have to get another flight physical at Newport once I get to Navy OCS (probably in March or April)? Thanks in advance for the help!

Yep, I was DQ’d because of eyesight. I’m well outside the SNA parameters, and I think SNFO is a real cool designator as well so I’m content with SNFO. I’m just wondering if I’ll have to do all that medical stuff AGAIN at OCS. Like I said, I was PQ/AA for duty as an SNFO, and my paperwork was sent to NAMI, like they do for all Marine applicants, so will I just bring my flight physical paperwork with me to Newport or will I have to go through that hellish process again just a few months later at Navy OCS?

Probably so.

You’ll go through another medical screening within the first three days of OCS and then another NAMI screening when you get down to Pensacola for IFS/API. They’re pretty in depth with the medical screening at OCS in my opinion.

The Marines aren't going to have a platform with NFOs in it in a couple years. Would strongly advise against the USMC route if NFO is what you're applying for, or get LASIK and reapply for Marine Pilot slot.
