Female applicants and haircuts

I just graduated OCS class 01-15. The females not getting their haircut was short lived with my class only. The policy then changed back to all females getting it cut initially, but then can attempt to grow it out.

Thanks for the info. Just to be clear, we're back to cutting all classes? Or was the revert back to cutting solely for your class? Needing some advice -- is it better to do before showing up, or wait... just in case they allow us to keep it long(er)? I won't complain, but given the option I'd prefer not to chop. (Cringing at the thought of PTing with hair in my face) Also, good to know hairdryers are allowed -- icicles forming on heads at 5am hardly sounds healthy.

All,

We recently got word from OCS that starting with the upcoming 20Jul OCS class, female officer candidates will not be forced to get their hair cut at OCS. With this change, female applicants should not feel compelled to get their hair cut prior to shipping to OCS in order to avoid getting it chopped at OCS since OCS is no longer cutting the hair of female officer candidates involuntarily.
Does that mean that we can ask to have it trimmed up there if we want, though? I like getting it even so it's easier to manage, so I was wondering if it was an option anyways.

You can get it trimmed later at the big NEX when you start making trips there, but like robav8r said, I wouldn't ask for it on indoc day.

Honestly I would ask. Then ask for your phone back so you can make a quick post on AW to update us.

That's ok. If all else fails, I've recently had it trimmed in case they won't. I just prefer it trimmed because it's easier to fix up. When it's been without a trim for a while, the ends get uneven, which makes it more difficult to get all of the ends hidden and out of the way.

The inclusion of "I will trust in my God" in a federal Code of Conduct is a textbook example of the failure to separate church and state.
How so? What state sponsored religion or church is the government trying to set up by having the word, "God" in a federal Code of Conduct?

Especially since it's "I will trust in MY God," making it dependent on your religion as to which God you're talking about. It seems to me more of an inclusion of your beliefs while under the employment of the federal government, whichever branch that happens to be.

Let me be a little more clear. The word "God" does not connote any meaning or dependency regarding any religion. It's ludicrous to think that a reference to "God" in government buildings, literature, or public schools is analagous to the establishment of any organized religion, or even support thereof for that matter.

Maybe I should be clear in the fact that I was agreeing with you. Not everyone supports an organized religion but still have a belief in a higher force or being. "God" is as good a name as any to use for one's beliefs.

YGBFSM. This thingie went from female hair cuts at OCS (which is a stupid thread to begin with…NO SHIT LADIES..it's STUPID! No matter how happy and glad you are to know that the rules are different for all of you ladies…) to some weird alternate universe wherein G0d plays a part.
You folks DO know…I hope…that God has a lot more on his plate than your hair?

We just had a recent graduate post that OCS is back to cutting hair so you won't have to worry. (Scroll back through this thread and you'll see it.)

They are def back to cutting hair if you go on the OCS facebook page and look at the check in pictures from this past sunday you will get a good glimpse of the hair cutting.

I can also confirm that females are getting their hair cut short again. I'm currently in 3rd week here with class 05-15 and our female candidates had to get their hair cut short.
