Two weeks after raising my hand and I still haven't seen my FINSEL and am not yet loaded in DEERS (so no CAC). I feel like a phony ensign. I did get an email from NPC today requesting copies of my DD214 and discharge for my record, so I must be in some system.

My recruiter emailed my FINSEL to me...you may start there.

Materials like this, when available, are all accessibly via "OTools", which is the system recruiters use to manage the application process from start to finish.

I spoke with NPC this morning. Apparently they need copies of my two previous enlistments (DD4) before processing me into DEERS. The individual with whom I spoke stated that it was required to document time. I guess that's to get my O1E timeframe determined. In any event, I get to play easter egg hunt digging in the attic for documents from 1992.

If you don't have any luck in the attic, try http://www.archives.gov/veterans/military-service-records/

I got my old paperwork from there.

During the application process I did submit a request for all documents and had them sent to my recruiter. I have a highly refined storage system in the attic. All important Marine documents reside within the same 40mm ammo can. The problem is time. I've got to be out the door in two hours for a flight. I don't think I'll have time today to dig them out.

Update-
Okay, I was unable to find my original DD4 after sifting through my intricate file storage system in the attic. I was about ready to give up all hope, until I realized that my girlfriend is much more organized than me. I decided to finally take a look in the safe, at a folder labeled 'important' to find my DD4 and other such things that I've long given up for lost. NPC now has my 2x DD4s, DD214 and discharge. With luck, I'll move out of the 'phony ensign' block and into the land of the living. It may be wishful thinking, but I'm hoping for a CAC before INDOC on the 27th.

If I don't have a CAC by INDOC I'm drilling in civvies; it seems the only logical option.

Way to go car975! I swore in on Friday. God bless my wife who threw a nice shindig w/about 80 friends and family in attendance. See you all in the fleet.

As is my luck, I went to my local DEERS id card issue point today and was told that according to the 'system' I do not qualify for CAC, but rather DD2 (aka green id). I'll chalk this up to another part of the larger experience. I suppose I'll get a USNR CAC at INDOC on the 27th.

I had that happen to me too. You should have them double check all of their entry fields. For whatever reason they missed that my citizenship field was blank, and that screwed the pooch. I went back about a month later and they fixed it.

I'll have it resolved at Indoc in two weeks. It's just my luck is all.

Funny thong is they offered me a retiree ID, I had to ask for the green one. I must look older than 35.

Last I checked I was still unable to get a CAC card and I am not entirely sure why that was. I went back over the paperwork and I have everything checked off but for some reason I have still not been gained into my unit. Very strange...

In other news I just found out that I was picked up off of the waiting list for April and that I will be going then so I will see a fair amount of you there!

I just submitted my quota request for April, last week, and was surprised that I got in too.

Is your CAC/DEERS issue preventing you from accessing NROWS and entering your orders for DCOIC?

I have a Final Selected letter, dated 28-Feb but my COMDOCs are STILL not in yet, which sounds really strange to me, compared to the experiences of people on these discussion boards . The letter says about 10-days; here I sit, day 17. ugh!

Ditto on the time submission. As far as the CAC/DEERS issue, I kind of figured that out (I think) but the biggest issue that I had with NROWS was that my RUIC was incorrect in NROWS which prevented me from getting the correct funding lines and various othere elements assigned correctly. The way that I resolved it was I talked to the Manpower guy that was in charge of inputting the information at my NOSC and had him input my stuff after I convinced him that I needed it. Day later no issues and I was in the system. Now DTS is a whole different saga by itself...

FINSEL on the other hand isn't something I can help with I am afraid. My COMDOCS turned up before day 10 so I never had to ping anyone for an update (which was actually really refreshingly nice) but maybe try the recruiter and have him check either OTOOLS (I think it's called) or make sure that all of your paperwork that Milligton needs is out there. That has been known to cause backups as many people on this board can commiserate with.

That's all I can offer for now sorry bud but keep the faith!

So I have been reading everything on this board but I still dont understand what the "scroll" is?.. I was just selected and am doing my physical next week. After that is submitted, then what? I hear people say I have to receive notice that I am physically qualified, and then make "scroll", and then final select letter, and the comdocs? Is that how it works?.. So what is "scroll"?

"Scroll" is the list of names -- the "scroll" -- that is approved for appointment by the Secretary of Defense. It's a physical document signed by SECDEF that will have your name on it, along with anyone else being appointed as officers. This happens periodically, and you have to wait until the next cycle in order for the process to proceed. In my case, final select and COMDOCS were all within a week of the scroll being released.
