Sequestration and Obama (read: Obama) are at fault, 100%. According to some commenters, criminally so.
Obama spent his entire 8 years in office blaming Bush for everything so why should Obama be blamed now?

Maybe not a massive peer-reviewed study just yet, but im not the only one who has this idea. Wait, nevermind... Must have been the bees...

I remember there was a lot of handwringing over a 'spike' in mishap rates about 15 or so years ago after a string of accidents in a single year, but it turned out to largely be an anomaly. When the overall mishap rate rises above the recent historical norms for a sustained period, more than a year or two, that is when I'll start to worry. Until then folks are just speculating.

@BACONATOR - Dude, you don't need a massive peer reviewed study, but you do need causal factors before you can draw conclusions. There are a whole host of potential non-sequestration related causal factors. When the SIRs are released, then we can begin to draw conclusions. Until then bees is as good an explanation as any other.

That's a fair point, but reading the SIRs of the more recent ones (and when these most recent ones come up) may open up some intriguing talking points of real demonstrable problems. Looking at the Marine Corps in particular, the 53 midair, as an example was a big eye-opener on lack of readiness, flight time and resources. I haven't read that SIR; that was all from public-record articles.

But at the very least, I hope the NSC is tracking this and actually studying this (I'm sure they are). Time will tell. But so far this FY, the numbers are up.

@BACONATOR it sounds like you want more money for your community. Why should congress give you more money? What do you provide?

Perdiem, duh...

Not wanting anymore of your aircraft to breakup mid flight while carrying passengers thanks to mx affecting budget cuts isn’t unreasonable... and probably a concept you, and most other aircrew, can relate to.
