DOD Civil Service and Navy Officer Reserves

I am currently 23 years old and just received my undergraduate degree in May. I am currently a GS-07 Civilian in the Air Force as a Contract Specialist with a grade target of GS-12 after 3 years from my start date. I am starting my grad degree in the Spring getting an MBA (undergrad business) and should take me two years while working at the Air Force. Once I finish my grad degree, would Navy Officer Reserves be an option and would my chances be enhanced by being either a GS-11 or GS-12 within the DOD as well as an MBA when I apply? I would be roughly 26 years old when I apply. Greetings from Dayton, Ohio!

1. You don’t need to create duplicate threads.

2. Yes, you can apply but be advised you are competing against executives with 10-15+ years experience. The GS-12/13 plan sounds very ambitious, but even so that will put you in the middle of the pack as an average supply DCO applicant.

What's the age cutoff for Officer Reserves?

42 if you’re civilian (meaning no prior enlisted service).
@TruckLover , 42 is so you can get 20 years of qualifying service towards a retirement. (Normal military retirement is age 60, 62 is a little bit more paperwork... sticking around past 62 is even more paperwork and usually takes special circumstances, like a unique medical specialty for example).

I know a guy who got commissioned as a reserve supply officer in his fifties, but he had about a dozen years enlisted in the Air Force. The math worked for him to be able to "get to 20" before he gets too old.

"How old is too old? and "Why?" are both good questions at your stage of the game. Obviously you're not going to wait until the last minute. (Who knows what the rules and the big picture will look like in the year 2034.)
