OCS December 2016 IWC Board

Is this your class date? I've heard for 1830 that class dates are usually later than others because of some of the paperwork that has to be processed.

It has to deal with follow on schools after OCS AND how many billets are available during the FY, OCS is now about halfway through its FY and the hard FY goals don't often come out until Jan/Feb so you could be waiting a few months or nearly a year, we had one that wasn't sent for 2 years.

Are people notified ahead of time when they may have to wait a year or so? I would hate to be in limbo. Would rather know so I can get a job in the meantime.

The few I dealt with at my NRD had some notice, they were told around Feb they wouldn't be going until after July, but a few just waited, all we were told was they were waiting on billets, they over-selected so it was just one of those things.

Do you think the wait for 1830 might be a little shorter for active duty personnel? I already have my clearance, which is probably a major factor in the lengthy delay.

I had a clearance too. They do the investigation while you are in training. At least that's how it was while I was in language school. Some people were denied clearance while in school and had to get a new mos.

Greetings, all. Is there anyone else here who is still awaiting the board's results at the edge of their proverbial seat? Two holidays in a row! Of all times, right! Alas. . . .

Well, in any event, it is great to be a new member of AIRWARRIORS. I have recently started reading the boards here, and I have found them all to be tremendously insightful. I am thankful that there are so many experienced patriots who do not mind taking the time out of their busy lives to give answer to many of the questions of all of us aspirants and boots.

May we all be blessed with the opportunity to earn the high honor and responsibility of serving our countrymen and sailors as officer-leaders in the world's greatest Navy this year! To those of you who have already received positive news, congratulations to you! To those of you still waiting, know that I am in the same boat that you are in; let us remain hopeful, shall we! Surely, it will not be long now! May the Sisters of Fate (as capricious as they are) smile upon us!

Cheers and best wishes to all of you, my, I hope, future shipmates! Semper Fi and HOOYAH!!!

Thank you!! I was quite a bit surprised to get 1810 as I have a non-STEM degree with a relatively low GPA, but I guess the rest of my package made up for that. I am incredibly excited to join the community
Congrats on the selection! I applied with a degree in education and only a 3.0. What else did you have for your package that made it stronger? Thanks!

You have a non-STEM degree, no IWC experience, and a fairly average GPA, which are big items that hurt selection chances. I would advise getting a national security-related Masters degree and/or to check out LDO/CWO programs. I would pursue the latter between the two.
