Did you complete your MEPS physical? Im pretty certain 30% VA disability is a no-go for commissioning... Was part of the disability PTSD related? N3M won’t entertain any waivers otherwise...

The DUI will hurt but the VA disability will be the nail to the coffin.

My disability rating is not PTSD related. Are you saying if it's NOT PTSD related, they won't consider it? or vice versa? My recruiter said he has seen some candidates selected that have a disability rating (although he didn't tell me specifically what those selectees ratings were).

Here's what the recruiting manual says about VA disability:

"(2) Waiver of Disability Compensation

(a) Disability compensation is a monetary benefit awarded by the Department of Veterans Affairs (DVA) based on a service-connected disability. Members who were found "Unfit" via final Physical Evaluation Board (PEB) determination with a rating of 30% or higher are transferred to the Permanent Disability Retired List (PDRL) and are ineligible. Those rated below 30% receive disability severance pay and may be eligible. In many cases, these individuals choose to waive their Navy disability retirement compensation in favor of DVA disability compensation, which is usually at an increased percentage. Applicants in this category who are subsequently found physically qualified and are authorized to affiliate must each fiscal year notify, in writing, the Veteran’s Administration regional office (or other source of government pension, disability compensation, or retired pay) their declaration of drawing either Navy reserve pay or compensation pay, per MILPERSMAN article 7220-380."

The 30% is a showstopper.

I am not disabled through the DoD (I have an RE-1 re-entry code so being disabled would exclude me from that option). I was never administered a PEB while in the military (is this what they call the medical screening at MEPS?) and certainly was never found "unfit" via 'a final PEB'. Therefore, I am not on the PDRL. Is there a specific manual, article or section I can refer to to see this for myself? I am not ready to say "30% is a showstopper", especially considering my recruiter has yet to tell me that (albeit I admit, he may not know what the exclusions are).

Chop beat me to the punch. Was meaning to attach the actual RECRUITMAN but he already sent the link.

Less than a month to go.. I started the process last September so I can relate to the long wait, though it has gone by fast. Good luck to both you and Lawlshark!
