Correspondence Course Review

Has anyone else turned in the JKO courses? I just completed seven of them. Do they really count for all members since nothing is listed at the bottom other than be in a "supervisor" roll? I really need these courses to count since I have less than 16 years, and from the policy change letter will be transferred to USNR-S2 status as of 30 NOV 17. If these courses don't count, I won't have a qualifying year. I could really use some guidance on this.

Last month I sent in a bunch of the courses from the previous list. They informed me that there is a new list and after days of calling anyone whom would take my calls, they sent the new list. The JKO courses are on the new list. You should not have any trouble getting credit for the courses as long as your are an E-5 or above.

In terms of the JKO list, I've started a few myself. I am frustrated that out of the 21 courses listed on the Correspondence Course list created by NAVRESFOR, I was only able to find 10 total on the JKO site still available (the other 11 have been removed).

I sent in one course on the old list before the new list was published and I have not heard back from them.
It is frustrating. On previous lists I called JKO help asking about the courses and they said something like "I wish they would have contacted us and we could have told them that we don't offer those courses anymore." Thanks PERS for limiting our options and teasing us with courses that are expired.

I tried this morning and got the following message: "An error occurred when connecting to DEERS." I tried using MS Explorer and the same thing happened. I have received that message before, but I would just keep trying and it would eventually work. I tried logging in six times, but still received the same message. I also tried to reopen the page with just the web address, and still got the same result. Something may be amiss.

UPDATE: I'm having this exact same problem now, and have been for the last 7 days. Anyone else having issues?

I'm trying to finish a course I registered for on the https://www.courses.netc.navy.mil/ website.
Once on the NETC website, I click "Access Student Services" which then takes me to the log in page.
Once at the log in page, I have to "click here" since I don't have a CAC card (DoD EDI: Click here if you don't know your DOD EDI)
I enter my SSN, Fist and Last Name, and DOB and hit enter. I then get an error which says "An error occurred when connecting to DEERS"

I've logged in the exact same way for the last 2-3 years with no issues until now. I've tried multiple different computers and browsers, and I still get the same error message.

Any suggestions?

THANKS!

When you click that you don't know (or have) a DoD EDI, the pop up screen specifically prompts you for your SSN. This is how I've logged in for the last 3 years.

I always assumed DoD EDI was associated with CAC cards, which I do not have as an IRR Reservist.

But to be sure, I tried logging in by entering the DoD ID Number on the bottom of my ID card, and it still doesn't work (though the error is different: "An Error has occurred on the page you attempted to access")

If anyone is able to log in, please let me know.

Thanks!

This is a common error. I think it is during site maintenance, usually on the weekend. Try again in a couple of days, it should be ok.

The EDI replaces your SSN on you ID, I am assuming as an ID theft prevention measure.

I am in the IRR and recently had to go get a Dependent's card for my younger son. When they saw that my own ID, which I had to show them to get my son's ID, listed my SSN, they told me that I also had to update my ID.

My newer ID now lists my EDI instead of my SSN.

I'm calling BS on PERS-93 on the "FY18 Reserve_Retirement_Point_List" in regard to the FEMA courses. Are they telling me that IRR Course monitoring which can hardly say who's less or greater than 16 qualifying years is supposed to determine who is in a NEPLO billet? Come-on. How are they monitoring this stuff. We are going to have to prove we are in a billet or not to get credit. This new list tops the charts on unbelievable level.

I'm starting to get concerned that the new correspondence courses aren't going to count for those that have less than 16 years. I turned in some JKO courses last Wednesday and haven't heard back from them. It seems like in the past it took them a week or so to acknowledge receipt. With the 30 NOV 17 transfer date looming, I'm concerned that the courses may not count and I might not have a qualifying year. I'm going to give PERS a call, is there any other recourse I can take?

My assumption is that either PS2 Frost has transferred or that PERS-93 is just so swamped that they aren't following through with their plan to notify us that they've received the certificates we've sent in. A call to PERS-93 certainly won't hurt. Let us know what you hear, please.

The last time I submitted points it took considerably longer to get a response. And I also suspect Frost departed the pattern...that dude was high-speed & low-drag.

I asked the "IRR Counselor" if the JKO courses could be completed by officers, and their response was yes they can. I'm still waiting for confirmation that the courses have been received.

I'm going on a couple of weeks without being able to log into NRTC through the Shared Access System (DEERS & Social) or the DOD EDI. Anyone else encountering problems with access or is this unique to me? I've used multiple machines, multiple browsers, mobile device, multiple times all with the same result. I've opened several help tix and this was the reply I received after the last one:

We understand your frustration but to date we have not discovered a reason for this problem.
The SOA connection was verified again this morning and connection to DEERS and back is processing.
Problem appears to be sporadic and to date it is not geographically specific.
Our IT staff continue to review but so far no issue has been discovered.
Your NRTC account is fine and has no issues.
We have personnel accessing the site without issue from home and military sites.

If anyone has any advice on browser configurations, please sound off, but I don't think this is a "me" problem.

So...I tried logging into NETC in Chrome's Incognito mode...and it worked...so...not sure what that's all about but if you're having trouble, give that a shot.
