Detailers have nothing to do with VFA/SFTI selection.....it is a board internal to the TOPGUN staff, and it trumps PERS slate. So perhaps similar to how you explained TPS to be? I didn't mean to suggest that the SFTI selection board was/is a good ol boy club, though I know that is the case for some other communities.......I've heard in VP land, the FRS has a hand in it for example.
You are correct; MPRWS JOs have to be approved by the FRS, despite the fact that MPRWS is a separate UIC with its own CO. Because the WS JO's are forced to spend 20% of their time doing CAT I FRS events, they require an FRS Instructor Qual, so they need to be acceptable to the FRS CO. This has resulted in patched guys/gals who want to go to MPRWS but don't want to go to the FRS getting sent elsewhere because they don't have the right number of friends at VP-30.

The VP-30 rush process is about as dirty as it gets. When your interview is the FIUT and being a “bro” is more important than talent.
Or so I’ve heard...

You heard right. It's a point of contention with a lot of people, especially since VP-30 bros go out of their way to explain that "they don't teach tactics", yet they are supposed to be the best of the community. At least on the NFO side - all they teach is buckling your seatbelt and loading crypto; the real brain trust is at the WTU's attempting to undo all the bad habits upgraders learn during CAT I.

TPS is a no-shit, PERS-style board (similar to statutory and screen boards) with briefers assigned records, a precept, and a convening order, etc. It takes place in the same board rooms in Millington. It's not a bunch of LTs in a conference room, or however you described SFTI selection.
I get it....TPS selection is kind of a big deal :) (Kidding aside, I know it is highly competitive)

What I was commenting on was your previous, where you made it sound as if SWTI selection is partially a PERs function, which to my knowledge, it is not on the VFA side.

PERS has no input into HSC WS selections. While i think the criteria is clear and fair, knowing folks on the inside can be the difference bt select/non select in the crunch. That prob sums up many a selection board, regardless of community

Yeah, they were handing those out like Pez candies. Not sure why the media likes to even bring up awards when reporting on criminal behavior, especially awards that were awarded 10 years ago.
