I had USAA set me up with a low limit VISA card that I use as my travel card overseas (for me mostly to Latin/South America and Caribbean).

Yeah that's smart. I was surprised when I was in the Middle East how often my Discover was accepted; and only recently (I think) NFCU did away with foreign transaction fees for their Cash Rewards card as well, which is definitely something to keep in mind if you're going to be buying a lot of stuff in foreign currencies.

USAA now has a card with 2.5% cash back: www.usaa.com/limitless

It requires a USAA checking account with $1000/mo direct deposit. Hard to beat otherwise.

Thats a great deal. Link wasn't working when I clicked, but gave a phone number instead. Maybe too many AWs snatching all the cards up.

Called. Only offered in some states (14) and if you don't live in one of those 14, link won't work.

Just ran out and got the Chase Sapphire Reserve - 100,000 points + Priority access to all airport lounges + $300 credit back on airfares. Online is showing only 50,000 points but for about 1 more week they will have the 100,000 points if you apply in person at a Chase branch. Good luck.

The $300 credit is actually a travel credit.
I've had it applied to bar/restaurant tabs, airport parking, and Uber rides.

Just pointing that out, since you probably want to balance that out with the credits from the Amex or other cards which may not be as flexible.

I have the AMEX platinum and am hopefully executing orders to Hawaii this summer, so was eyeing the Sapphire cards for the sign up bonus in miles. (And missed the 100k mile bonus - ugh). A Forbes article made a pretty compelling argument for the CSP vice CSR.

Casual travelers who do not need airport lounge access, Global Entry, or may not “max out” the $300 travel credit should consider the Chase Sapphire Preferred® Card. It offers very similar rewards for travel and restaurant purchases but only costs a reasonable $95 per year.

Am I overlooking anything?

For what it's worth, Chase is especially lenient for what the travel voucher applies to (cabs/ubers, paid parking, etc.) and as a result I used all of mine pretty quickly. So then in effect the other extra benefits of the CSR only cost $50 a year.

Also if you haven't done so, give AMEX a call and ask them to send you the new metal card. A buddy just got his and mine is coming next week, it looks sweet!
