Moved the E-2/C-2/PBS "Carrier" posts into the Big Max Thread so this one can get back to Plopter posts.

Ummm....doesn't your profile say "former H-46 driver?" WTF?
But I absolutely loved the look of the look of the interior '46 cabin when I would pick up an aircraft fresh from NADEP Cherry Point and all the sound proofing blankets were correctly installed and clean, and all that wiring and plumbing was hidden :)

Some very bad news, and then some good news, from the AW-609 (Osprey's little brother)

http://www.verticalmag.com/news/article/AW609prototypecrashesbothpilotskilled One of the pilots was a former Marine and former Bell test pilot.

There have been a few mishaps over the last couple years associated with high-speed flight tests in new designs. It has prompted a number of organizations to re-think their approaches.

A high speed run just below Vne of 280 is a required FCF line after RTB in a V-22. It's very benign. I'm surprised it was that big of an envelope stretch in the 609.

Actually, in an empty Osprey, sometimes you need a shallow climb to stay below Vne at full power for that test!

Tiltrotor are “V” designations, and they’ll be Navy, not Marines, so it should remain VRC.
You know, I wanted to argue with you on this...but you are right. Seems odd to me, plopters should have their own designation like the old blimps had “Z.” It can’t be “T” because of trainers so....?
