Adding to the talk of syllabus changes: rumor has it Navy will start selecting plopter pilots "soon"...

EDIT: Come to think of it, guess this belongs more in 'All things CMV-22'

Pure speculation on my part, but I doubt that "soon" is soon. The FIT doesn't stand up until October. The Navy doesn't actually get airframes until 2020. If you do the backward math, when would you want those future CAT I students to start API?

2020 fielding, add in 5 year delay in delivery, 18-24 months of stand downs, factoring in 12 months to select out of primary and another 12 to get through advanced... You probably want the first kid in API about 2025...

What's this, VMX-1 was out on Vinson? What could this be about?

Looks a little too grey to be a White Top, unless X-1 has some grey Plopters.

'White tops' refers only to the VH-3's and VH-60's that are used for Presidential transport, the rest of the executive transport and support fleet to include the V-22's are painted all-green.

Since it does OT&E for new helo flight systems for the USMC I am pretty sure they have some 'grey' birds in the squadron as well to perform those duties.

For clarity, this article doesn't quite get it right. This was not a test event at all. It was simply some VMX-1 crews getting re-punched on their currency/proficiency for CVN ops. And since you guys were mentioning green Ospreys vs grey Ospreys, both VMX-1 and HMX-1 birds will be out next month for the fleet battle experiment.
