I'm applying for SWO and PAO is my longshot. I haven't put my application in yet, although I've completed my work and resident history for. I'm in the process of getting together my LORs and studying for the OAR. I'm hoping to take it sometime in August. I've heard from many to not let them push me along the enlisted route. I want to be in the Navy pretty terribly, but at this point in time, I don't think enlisting would be a good idea either. I glad to hear you had to push your recruiting officer along a bit. I don't want to come off as pestering but I'd like to get in there before I start sprouting gray hairs!

Well I'm already there on the last comment so pardon me if I don't share much sympathy ;)

Putting together the actual application was the easiest part for me, most likely because I was already preparing one for the Marines. However, I was able to take the ASTB, arrange all of my LORs, and assemble my entire packet within one week as I was on the boarder line of making the July '12 board.

My timeline was:
Met with recruiter: First week of June '12
Sat for ASTB and assembled packet for board: Second week of June '12
Pro-Rec'd: First week of August '12
Sat out remainder of PRK waiver until November 9th 2012
Medical issues and drama: From Dec '12 until June of this year
Received a final medical waiver: Second week of June
Received my FS: Third week ofJune

I think a lot of the reason my recruiters had the incentive to really push hard was to get my application in before the deadline for the board. Last year they didn't have nearly as many boards as they have had this year.

Haha, well guys looks better with a couple of grays. You can pull off that whole distinguished thing. Women on the other hand, just look old. ;)

I'm impressed your application was so fast. Sorry to hear about your medical stuff, but I hope everything is alright now. I had met with my recruiter the last week of May this year, and it just seems like it's been one thing after another. Lots of waiting. My recruiter didn't even mention getting LORs, I only found out I needed them through this website. I think as of right now, I'm shooting for the October boards? I don't mind the extra time especially as I prepare for the OAR. I haven't been in school in almost 5 years, and I've had to re-learn/brush up on a lot of my math and learn about all things mechanics. I'm just itching to go and get started!

A good OR would push a decent officer candidate towards enlisting unless the OR wasn't really an OR but an enlisted recruiter just trying to help so what your recruiter is doing makes me question what he actually is, what rank is your recruiter?

PAO has been closed to anyone but fleet applicants the past several years, even before that 99% of those selected were either on active duty as JO's or were prior active duty as JO's, their quota is only 1-4 per year.

Hey gang, non-prior/intel/27 here. A few things that came to me that I wanted to share:

1.) I put together what I can on the chain of command and would be happy to share it if anyone needs it for pre-OCS gouge study. 2.) I read somewhere it might be a good idea for us to get dinner the Saturday before check-in to be able to hang out a bit before the mayhem ensues. If anyone else is interested, I'd be game to set it up. 3.) I'm presently in Baltimore and will be driving up the Saturday preceding, so if anyone needs help with transport and lives between Baltimore and Newport, let me know.
Lookin forward to it, see yall up there.
