Got a call yesterday that I'll be in this class. 22 years old/ non-poor/ SNA/ New York. Look forward to meeting everyone and going through this with you all.

Just a recommendation on the fitness preparation side, if you are working out in the gym with a traditional routine... stop. How much you bench or squat will do you no good on a Navy PFA or the majority the 'beatings' that we will experience at OCS.

Recommend a solid body-weight program like TRX, Insanity, or others along with a healthy dose of stretching. The name of the game is endurance and injury prevention, Yoga is a good option to augment your training plan. Full range motion exercises are ideal. If you are not a runner, start slow and build up to it. It is better to keep your form than to break your body down on a run that you are not ready for. Do you research and get good running specific shoes - not cross-trainers or any other athletic shoe. If you don't know anything about it, go to a running store with a track and have the associates there educate you.

I don't want to see anybody injured or struggle due to fitness, we will have other things to worry about.

I am not a personal trainer but fitness is my hobby and I have been a command fitness leader for the past two years. If anyone has any specific questions, please don't hesitate to ask.

Cheers,

- Z
